Villain was playng like 38/14 and very stationy in general. Not too many hands on him and no history but I had seen him flat my lp raises from the bb w/ hands like 79o and he donk bet one flop into me on a dry board and then check snap folded turn.

just call, what hands are you trying to get value from with a raise that he leads here?

At first I was gonna say call, but after a little thought I think I like popping it to like 188$.

I just call. Don't see what raising accomplishes.

Edit: Disregard entire post. My original reply was based on poor reading comprehension as I thought villain was 48/17 while I was posting. 36/14 is none too impressive, but its no 48/17.

I was lobbying for a raise. After I posted I went back and read the other responses and was surprised everyone thought call. Then I reread op and realized I am not smart or good at reading. Or poker.

not crazy about raising here but at the same time it feels wrong not to. i wouldnt do much more than a minraise, maybe like 160 or so

Ricky, what's your question? Were you thinking about folding? Or raising? Seems like super straightforward call.

Oh I thought it was obv I was deciding whether to raise or call. My thoughts were exactly the same as Rosa's and GM's. I think I used my whole time bank before I just called. He showed A10o fwiw.

The questions is if I raise to like 200 do I always have to fold to a shove?

Now that I think about it some more, if he's a station AND you feel like he "would" have raised the flop with a FD (altho some stations won't raise draws), then I like making a smallish raise - something a station can call, like 175. If he shoves, then it depends on your read of whether he would have raised his draw on the flop.

There has to be some correct number because I think I could make a raise much larger and still get called by his 2p hands, maybe even weaker however those raises always commit me to call his 3bet shove.

Like dfly if I do raise there I have to know beforehand whether i'll call or fold to the shove because it really really influences my initial decision.

Yeah, this is the problem my longwinded and now edited out post refered to.

Unless you've seen some pretty spewy play out of this guy already then I would be planning to fold to a raise. I'm assuming this guy is not too good so I don't think either of your line's up to the river are particularly important...this guy will see that the river is the flush card, he bets, and you raise. He can't be planning to reraise with worse than a flush.

That said I agree that there are plenty of hands in his range to get value out of (2pr hds, worse str8) so theres nothing wrong with a raise. But, it really does need to be close to min raise otherwise you're committing yourself.

Now, maybe others will argue that you should call his raise rather than fold to it, in which case I'd raise to $180ish.

i put in a small raise, but i am a sucker for thin value.
he so rarely has a flush here its just a case of how bad you think this guy really is?? i raise and fold to a jam vs a decent player, but depending on what i had seen this guy doing in similar spots i might call it off vs him, not to mention he is like to call with all flushes except K hi and A hi right? so likelihood of facing a jam is super small IMO and another reason to call it off if he did decide to spazz out

raising here is too thin imo, easy call. almost everything that you beat that he leads the river with he will fold to a raise, and everything that beats you either calls the raise or shoves, which would be spewy to call.

that might be a nitty way of looking at it but it's a limped pot, and you have far from the nuts

What about a hand like JT or any two pair? They aren't calling a min raise?
