I also found myself in Hand 1 situation a couple of times and honestly I don't know what to do. But here is what I think: when you called his flop raise, he could pretty much put you on AJ and big pairs.

So now the question is: what is he trying to acheive with the overbet on the turn, knowing that you have TP or OP? If we think he is trying to put pressure on us and make us fold, we call. If we think he is one level above that and wants to make us feel suspicious (in other word, if he wants to induce a call), then we fold.

I know this sounds simple, but unfornately this question can not be answered without history about how he plays and how he has seen your play. So I don't think you can be too wrong either way.

Not often no, but it could be a misclick check, bad slowplay, etc. Based on the opponents stats, the fact that the pot is protected, and how little sense the line makes, that shove seems quite strong. I mean the worst hand they have is a combo draw right? It seems like you're flipping at best.

Edit: I also don't think the jack of hearts makes a huge difference. Obviously it helps, but even pair + FD hands have pretty good equity.

Is it horrible to just fold to the flop raise in hand #1? I mean, this kind of player is almost never raising Jx and stuff, and he's usually not slowing down if we call and check to him on the turn.

#1 You have enuf hands to see a 1.4 agg factor. Almost a perfectly dry board. I release to the flop raise.

#2 Call flop bet? Certainly fold as played.

yea hand 1 is a fold and its pretty good to fold flop IMO but i dont know that i could do it...hand 2 is what i have most of the problem with, the player behind either has worse J for 3 outs or FD taking away outs if villian has combo draw...i think its a fold just couldnt think of anything he would do this with at the time

hand 1 74s
hand 2 kk

a lot of really bad lines in both hands for OP and villains...

hand 1 no we don't fold the flop.. if you're gonna start folding overpairs to a flop raise vs someone who's tight then you might as well stop playing premiums OOP vs tight players with position lol. however did you think about why you cbet vs this type of player? and why you called his raise? why you checked turn? I think you were doing this on auto-mode when you should've thought.

hand 2 the raise is bad.. with these many players your hand is quite possibly no good. you neither have position nor initiative nor the strength to go to showdown vs so many players but by raising you are saying "I want to take it down now or we can go to showdown".. and where there's both straight & flush draw you are just not going to win with TPTK in a 4-way.
