It's a full ring table, but all the seats haven't been filled yet. I guess I could post in the other forum, but since the villains and I are normally full ring players with full ring tendencies, I thought it made more sense to post it here.

I've only got 43 hands on the villain. He's running 30/12. I've only played 8 hands at this table and I haven't been overly aggressive. This is the first time I've made a play at the blinds.

Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $4.00 BB (6 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

UTG ($160.20)
MP ($134.25)
CO ($581.50)
Hero (Button) ($400)
SB ($477.90)

BB ($142)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 10, A
3 folds, Hero bets $12, SB calls $10, 1 fold

Flop: ($28) 8, 3, 10 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $16, SB raises to $64, Hero ?

start by calling.

Hope you aren't asking if its a fold, its much closer to a 3bet than to a fold.

Full Tilt doesn't offer a "String bet" button yet.

So...call, reevaluate on the turn? I agree that it's better than a fold, but it still doesn't seem too good. Are we just going to fold to a turn bet if we don't hit our 5 outer? Are we committing if the turn is a low card? Or are we just hoping he doesn't bet again and that the turn doesn't cripple our hand?

Is three betting too spewy? Against a 12/10, I'd never do it, but this guy probably has some weaker 10s in his range.

3betting is plus ev, but calling is probably a good bit better.

you aren't auto folding on a blank.

Doesn't matter.

I ended up making it $120 on the flop and the SB shoved.

I don't dislike a call. Looking back, it probably is better. At the time, my logic was that too much could go wrong on the turn. A high card means I lose all my action from a weaker ten.

You called the shove I assume?

His sizing is more indicative of air/draws and better hands than a ten, imo. Another reason I call.

His stats indicate he will overplay Tx. I would default to calling the flop, but if we think his range is weighted heavier towards Tx and flush draws, rather than sets, 3-betting is good.

Once you 3-bet you have to call a push.

Oh yea, thought the board was suited... makes hand a lot different actually. I would definitely just call the flop then.
