4 opponents is bad enough, but with having shallow effective stacks, you simply don't have any room to outplay someone. It becomes much easier for them to make the correct play against you.

Is it too early to ask for results??

Would like to know how this one turned out. Great discussion though.

I'm just a donkey but calling 22 pf with Q4s, 55 or 45s is def within the range of many LLS players. At least it is where I play (Hammond) But so is AQ and 34s. You have 22 invested, why gamble your stack on this junk without more info? Insta-fold.

This whole thread is ridiculous.

Playing baby unsuited gappers passively at multiple points preflop is not +EV. The only thing Hero needs to learn from this hand is not to be in this situation. Whatever result achieves that enlightment is the only one that matters.

This may be the underlying lesson of the thread.

If Hero had 45, 65 suited would a $22 call pre flop be ok?

No. Not in this spot. Heads-up (3 ways at most) deeper stacks/eff stacks, in position (the one thing this has going for it)... obviously when it's folded around to you (still in position) and you're the opener so your range isn't so capped. These are conditions I would want for playing suited connectors.

Even if you have a significant edge over your opponents post flop it's going to be nearly impossible to use it in this spot, which means you're just playing your cards and just hoping to outflop everybody else. You need hands that flop much better than 65s or 54s to be profitable in this situation.

Um, isn't this exactly why live low-stakes is profitable?

Which is why I think the first call pre-flop is perfectly fine.

I was answering with respect to making to the flop (with the raise) with the suited connecters. Agreed that when we can limp in the button it's perfectly fine, although I still think it's pointless and bad with 64o.

Small connectors don't flop nearly well enough to justify putting in 7bbs preflop where the only way we can win the flop is by making the best hand. It's just not good poker given the raise size and stacks.

Call and be surprised how weak the villains are.

I spiked a 3rd with 10J in a very similar situation in AC last summer, and villain turned over an lol bluff and was just shocked that it didn't work.

I agree with mark. Playing crap cards in hope to outflop a villain, who is without clear description such as "maniac" or will stack off with any pair, is just bleeding money.

But in this case, how can you not stack off when you get exactly what you're looking for, which is hitting two pairs or better.

I agree that calling the preflop raise is bleeding money.
