Situation as follows:
Hero bb £180 10h5s
3 other players £200 each
3 limpers and i check preflop
Flop comes kdqhjd
Last player to act bets £3 all call
Turn comes 9s. Sb bets £26 i call.
Next person to act raises to £52
Button pushes his stack. Small blind folds. Action to me?
I thought for a long time and with only £30 ish in pot from me i folded.
Next person to act thinks and calls eventually. They both turned over random 10s.
Was i correct to fold with obviously not the nuts?

I think I just fold the flop. Pot is small. We're making very little money from worse hands if an A/9 comes, our outs aren't clean (diamond draw), we're typically chopping even if we do hit and once in-a-while we run into the nuts with the second best hand.

Yeah i think you are right i could be drawing against a made hand/ flush and i wont make any money even if i do hit from a hand i beat

You have to fold the flop here.

The nine is not that good a card for you. On the flop, there is a 25% chance that the nine will be a diamond completing a flush, so you only have 3 clean outs. 6% to hit and on top of that, you'd have the semi-bottom end of a 4 card straight.

Also, having the 'bottom' end of a 4 card straight is not a good spot to be in. Especially a straight that has a really high probability of splitting when you have absolutely no nut draws to go with it.

Basically, what this means is that you are putting in your money "hoping" to get it back in the form of a chop.

So fold flop. As played, fold turn IMMEDIATELY.

In general, one of the best things you can do is to snap fold situations in which you are betting 'hoping' to chop without a nut redraw.

Sure, if you have the stone cold nuts, like A3 on a K Q J T 4 board, then sure, go nuts, bet, shove, whatever. However, when you don't have the nuts or a nut redraw and are basically 'hoping' to chop like the above situation, snap fold as soon as possible.

Fold flop. On the turn, call the first bet and then easy fold to the raise.

Looks like there will be a big bet on the river and we wont be in a position to call it with two other people in the hand.
