Fairly loose game with friends, 25c/50c. CO raises to 4$ and I call the SB with 33. MP calls.
Pot: $12.5. Effective Stacks: 150$. Flop: 3d 2d 5h.
Check, Check, Bet 9$, I re-raise to 20$, MP calls 20$ and so does CO.
Pot: $72.5. Effective Stacks: 130$. Turn: Kc.
I bet 50, MP calls and CO folds.
Pot: $172.5. Effective Stacks: 80$. River 10d.
Am I ahead here? Should I bet, c/c or c/f? Thoughts on previous streets also welcome
MP is a fairly tight, straight-forward player. Recently noted him re-raising my C-Bet on a paired flop with air. But I would put him in the tightish player bucket.
Home games are extremely difficult to get good advice for because you know vastly more about the villain than you can describe to us.
What's his l/c range? Would he chase a FD not getting odds? Would he slow play a set or straight? Will he try to bluff you on the river if you check? You should know this by now.
Against a generic ABC TAG, checking on the river is fine, he's not betting with anything you can beat.
Just shove. People play like monkeys in home games, you're calling a shove anyway because you're beating so many hands. You can get value from hands you have beat that way at least.
I like a check/snapcall on river. Pot is too big to fold and you have a very strong hand. I would raise flop a little larger, its not the drawiest of boards (though I apparently have problems reading boards!) but there are a lot of cards which can kill our action.
Also my inner nit points out you raised his flop bet, not re-raised.
why are you check/snapcalling here? Are you trying to induce a bluff? It seems relatively unlikely that anything is bluffing in this spot. Every 4 has SD value for villain unless he has something crazy like 47, 48, 49.
It's way better to lead than to check/call here. Most of villain's hands are checking back and if we're going to call anyway, better to lead and get him to call with hands like two pair, top pair, smaller sets, etc.
Hmmm... maybe the right play is to 1. Bet size bigger on flop and 2. Push river. Anyway, he checked behind with a flopped straight (A4o). Said he had me on a flush draw (dont know why he didnt raise the turn).
Anyway, wondering if I could get a fold from a straight if I shoved on the river, since the 3rd diamond got there- probably not, given pot size
