Hi, would like to get other people's thoughts on 2 hands I played tonight at my local casino, £1/£2 8 handed cash game.

Hand 1:

£1/£2, £5 straddle, 8 handed.

Hero (CO) raises to £15 with AJdd, straddle 3b to £40, Hero calls.

Flop (£83): Qh 8d 5h
Straddle bets £30, Hero calls.

Turn (£153): Qd
Straddle bets £75, Hero calls.

River (£303) Qs
Straddle bets £125, Hero calls.

Straddle mucks, Hero wins.

The guy was pretty loose aggro playing lots of hands, liked to bluff. This a decent call or not? He was fuming afterwards saying I can never call 3 streets with Ace high as he could have AA, KK, JJ or even a smaller pair although I just felt like if he had one of those hands he would've checked the turn or maybe the river even? My thought process could be well off but I felt as if it was a decent call down.

-----

Hand 2:

£1/£2, £5 straddle, 8 handed.

SB raises £15, Hero (BB) calls with 8c 6c, Straddle 3b to £45, SB calls, Hero calls.

Flop (£135) 8c 10c 6d
SB bets £25, Straddle calls, Hero raises to £100, BB calls, Straddle calls.

Turn (£435) 2d
BB checks, Straddle checks, Hero bets £325, BB calls, Straddle folds.

River (£1,185) 9s
BB shoves all-in £242, Hero calls.

BB says 'you've got it' and mucks, Hero wins.

The guy was on super tilt but this probably a bad call on the river? I just felt like there was too much in the pot to fold and he could be bluffing any missed draws although he could've had 9x maybe? Also felt like if he had a big hand he would've either got it in earlier (unless the 9 made a straight/2pr) or he would've checked the river to induce a shove perhaps? I dunno again not sure about my thought process.

Any comments much appreciated thanks, be kind! Used to play semi-seriously years ago (before GTO became common) but now poker is just a hobby for me. So try not to say too much GTO related stuff if possible, maybe a little to see if I can understand

Hand 1: The call isn't bad. Villain never really bet enough to put you to the test. The call down is pretty risky even against an overly bluffy villain and you shouldn't call that light very often. No pair/no draw is usually a hand to give up. It isn't big pairs and Qx that you should be worried about, it's losing to random 5X hands.

Hand 2: Your action is too messed up to analyze. Is hero the BB or not? The order of action doesn't make any sense.
In any case the river call with two pair is obvious. Getting better then 5-1 you can't fold two pair to a tilting villain. Depending on villain it may not be a happy call but folding would be silly.

Stack sizes matter.

Hand 1 I think is fine if he likes to bluff because you don't have to be right often to win this one.

Hand 3 Think this a fold pre to the 3bet. River has to be a call for this price vs. a tilty villain.

Sorry I was in a rush last night to post before bed, can't edit the post so will post H2 again as it was wrong I didn't flop 2 pair, just a pair of 6s with a flush draw.
.
£1/£2, £5 straddle, 8 handed.

SB raises £15, Hero (BB) calls with 8c 6c, Straddle 3b to £45, SB calls, Hero calls.

Flop (£135) 4c 10c 6d
SB bets £25, Hero raises £100, Straddle calls, SB calls.

Turn (£435) 2d
SB checks, Hero bets £325, Straddle folds, SB calls.

River (£1,185) 9s
SB shoves all-in £242, Hero calls.

BB says 'you've got it' and mucks, Hero wins.

So at the end I only had a pair of 6s. Hand 1 is 100% accurate.

Hand 1: I like a raise on the turn. He is going to fold everything that isnt a Q and its hard to have trips + you said this guy has a giant range. People make the mistake of call down mode vs someone who barrels with wide ranges when they could easily raise at any point in the hand and pick up the pot the majority of the time. He could easily of had an 8 since the river bet looks like a value bet.

Hand 2: Pre: fold unless there is really bad players already in the hand. Turn: never leave this small of a bet behind. This is a gross spot on the river and I would have just overbet jammed turn. I like the aggression overall though just make sure to play sets and 2 pairs the same way you played this hand.

In hand 2 stack sizes really matter. Depending on how aggressive straddle is you may want to fold the first time and you need to be really deep to call the 3 bet.

Flop depends on knowing something about SB. You say he is tilted, will he every fold to a raise? What does his small lead mean?

Turn a lot depends on stack sizes and how much you and straddle have left. You don't want to leave SB with that sort of trivial stack left but if you and straddle have more you may not have an option. Moving all in may be too much vs the risk straddle calls. On the river with just one low pair you could fold but your odds are so good that calling is fine.

We were all 300bb+ deep start of both hands

Thanks for the comments

Hand 2 you had two chances to fold preflop. Unless you are 600 bb effective, fold.

The flop raise is way too small for the size of the pot and how vulnerable your hand is. Make it $175-$200 on the raise.

Turn is good as played. Your hand history is messed up after that so further comment is pointless

Yeah sorry about the HH in the OP, I reposted H2 with the correct hand history, doesn't let me edit the OP for some reason.

Is 8c 6c really a fold pre? Suited connectors/gappers have tons of implied odds don't they?

I would fold that since you can about guarantee the straddle will play putting you in the middle in a raised pot. If you are on the button or CO and raise yourself or can overlimp with it, it plays fine. Also if you know a fish is entering the pot with a deep stack and you act after him. Or you have position on someone who is overly aggressive and can’t fold AA no matter what board it is

Flop call is also fine. Not a fan of the middling raise with smaller FE

I do tend to overplay those sorts of hands to be fair, I get more excited looking down at 8h 9h than AA

Not happy to get it in on that flop with middle pair + FD or is that a bit too gamble-y?

Definitely not excited about it. Coin flip EV for stacks vs worse players is not the spots I’m looking for. If you do get it in, show your hand.
