I'm kinda surprised that nobody but me has mentioned anything about the fact that I'm getting over 5 to 1 on both turn and river calls. Does this really have no effect on your decisions???

i don't think 5 to 1 matters that much here.. assuming your overcard outs are good.. you'd need like 7 to 1 to make it breakeven.. plus on the river.. i've seen villains with your description block bet here with 2nd pairs or worse for small bets.. hoping to set a price for showdown..

all in all.. pretty marginal call.. i guess it's cool to show the hand down win or lose and make people not try to bluff you.. but i definitely wouldn't think of it as a straight "value" play

btw OP like your style of play.. i think it's making the aggressive plays and the "wtf" plays once in a while that really throws villains for a loop and get you paid off or make villains really nit up vs you.. then you can be table captain and win $$

Me beating a Special Olympian in the 100 yard dash does not mean i'm a long term winning sprinter.

From your description, you were at a table full of donk droolers.

So yes, in this instance, you "won".

But in general, this is a losing play. You are too focused on the "I'm getting 5:1 odds" without understanding what your equity is when you start out a hand vs 5 villains!!!.

Use poker stove, throw in AK vs 5 villains with a random garbage range.

Then throw in the flop and turn and then hit enter.

Your equity is under 8%

getting 5:1 on your money isn't enough...

Not everyone at the table was so terrible, but the three villains in this hand were particularly bad, especially V3. Personally I think LLSNL is all about maximally exploiting bad players. So yeah, winning the Special Olympics, crushing really, is what I'm after when I play. I make a point to beat the better players too, but that's not as important.

As to the rest of what you've said: Your point is well taken... *BUT* I was up against 3 villains (not 5), and I had position, and all had weak ranges based on action.

I agree with OP here. He has a read and he is going with it. Villains do not seem to be ready to fold marginal hands on turn or river, so why raise?. He is going to be losing the pot many times to crappy holdings with a 6 or 8 etc... Or even being raised OTT when the 2 villains behind him wake up with something, but he only needs to be right 20% of the time on the turn and even less OTR for the calls.
All that said i agree with previous poster that a tighter/value betting strategy in general might work better here.
