I think 44 PF is a little marginal in EP, but not terrible. I have not had a great time making 22-55 profitable in EP over time in full ring.
Flop/turn well played.
River is a fold IMO. I think he can easily have AJ/KJ/77. More importantly I don't think he a) can have worse for value b) is likely to have any reasonable bluffs in his range. So if he did this with some weird air type hand - he owns us and he is definitely not playing ABC poker (not even ABCD, right mpethy?
). If he took this line with a decent Jx it makes some sense. Let's say I am him and have AJ:
- Preflop: I should probably fold but hey, I have AJ and don't want to fold it even vs. EP (typical for meh 2/5 regs)
- Flop: I gots top/top, this is a good c-betting board, let's check to the raise to collect a c-bet from air
- Turn: My hand just got better, EP raiser rarely has a 7 in his hand, nor is this a good card for him to double barrel. Let's bet for value so that a K/Q doesn't come on the river.
- Turn after I got raised: I has 2 pair and villain is repping a super narrow range. He wouldn't even do this with AA. So he has JJ/77/44 (if he even plays 44 from EP), or air. Hmmm, why would he be raising me here with a boat, wouldn't he want to just call? Ok, I gots 2pr, and villain feels FOS, I call.
- River: I no longer care about what he has since he can't have JJ and if he has 77 oh well, I am betting for value.
