Game: 2/5
Players:

UTG = Hero (tight aggressive, just sat down at the table @ 200 BB)
(holds K , K )
CU = Villian #1 (No info on player @ 250 BB)

Preflop- Hero raises $15, MP calls, CU calls $15

($45) Flop- J , Q , 4
Hero BETS $25, MP folds calls, CU CALLS

($95) Turn- 2
Hero bets $50, CU calls

($195) River- 9
Hero thinks for a little bit then checks to induce a bluff thinking this is a fairly safe card, hero stares intensely at CU, first CU isn’t noticing- almost seems like he is somewhere else, then CU looks at the board checks his hole cards, and looks at Hero. Seeing that hero is staring at him he reaches for $150 and bets it.

What should hero do?

Do what you were planning to do. You already laid out the reasoning.

What bluffs does V have after calling flop and turn? I think we've narrowed his range to value by the river. I would have checked the turn, but AP I'm betting this river for thin value targeting his AQ/AJ, which I suppose has quite a bit of As/Q-Jx. I think V's bluffs are pretty limited to As/Tx. I think we can target value bc we're blocking a lot of his KT and his made flushes.

Hero should pray that the villain has never heard of Mike Caro and is unaware that staring at another player is a sign of weakness.

As played, you wanted to induce a bluff and got your wish. Now you call and learn the second lesson from Mike that someone is not showing any interest in the pot is strong.

so you check, wanting to induce a bluff, he bets, and now you don´t know what to do?

Haha pretty funny.
I was staring at him to see how he behaved on the river, to be able to better fight him on future pots. Perhaps he did think me weak, but I don’t think so. Otherwise he would have bet thinner on value. Mike Caro’s suggestions are just general guidelines, and don’t apply universally.

Imo this player was going to bet thin value on the river like $75-$100.
But when he saw me staring at him I think something triggered inside his brain like an alpha male being challenged, and this was more of a macho bet than anything.
