UTG is a very competent player who knows his poker fundamentals well.

UTG has 1400, I cover

SB (140) is a fish.

UTG raises to 15, one call, i flat with pocket tens on the button, normally i would reraise but i just stacked chips and am eating

SB shoves UTG flats

WWYD?

Flipping at best (most likely). You may get to see an extra card due to protected pot but I don't think that's enough of a benefit to call here. You're getting decent set mining odds but I don't think the implied odds will be there to recoup your preflop investment as your call/call line is going to look like small-to-mid PP's and once you get aggro postflop in a protected pot a competent villain will be able to let a big pair go.

Sounds nitty but fold.

I don't think flatting is all that bad.

You could fold just because you misplayed the hand already since you probably shoulda made it $50 pre.

Hell you could even make it $300 pre which I kind of like, since UTG probably has a bull **** hand like 88 or 99. I would think JJ+ would 4bet and if they don't, he might fold JJ to your 4bet and you can flip with the fish.

Patience and time are my two valiant warriors. The apple must not be picked while it is still green. It will fall of itself when ripe, but if you pick it unripe you spoil the apple and the tree and set your teeth on edge.

Just how competent is the UTG? To be honest, a good player would have raised over to race the SB with just about any hand other than AA or KK. He shouldn't want you around without a great hand.

So if he's competent, we're crushed and should fold. If not, then we call to look for a low flop.
