2/5, villain is a solid reg, eff. stack $900

V straddles to 10 UTG, 4 callers, hero on BTN w/ JdJh makes it 50, only V calls
Flop(140): 8c2d3d
V checks, hero bets 55, V raises to 150. In retrospect I wasn't totally accounting for the $40 in dead money in the pot, but I don't hate the bet size.

Hero...? Plan for various turns?

Why so small pf? I'm surprised you only got one caller.

Don't use 1/3 sizing on this board. You should bet 2/3 or 3/4.

As played call and plan to call down or gii on pretty much any card except for an A.

So never fold an over pair. Got it.

For 90bb on 8 high boards with a ton of draws yes.

Agree with all this although a flop 3bet is a tempting alternative. Straddle has all the sets, no two pair, TT-99, lots of 8x, lots of diamond draws and probably some hands like A4cc. I could go either way. What would you do with AQ?

I'd call AQx combos and AQ and clubs

fold the rest.

Ton of draws? Like what? Vs range is all big diamonds, some 8X and 88-TT. He called pre with multiple players behind.

Edit: ehh forgot about Ad4x and Ad5x .. could have some of that. Anyway, calling the x/r. I'd like to point out in the other thread people wanted to fold AJo on a JT7r to a x/r at 900 eff. Now you want stacks to go in on a 8-3-2 two tone?

Need to go bigger pre. At least $70-$80. Raising 5x here, V is going to have a very wide range in the straddle.

V's flop x/r seems most likely to be a set raising for value and protection. But his smallish sizing is odd. It could indicate a draw or top pair.

I don't like a 3B, because we'll have to fold to a jam. Also don't like a fold. I think we just have to call.

If we don't spike a T, but V checks to us on a brick turn, it's probably safe to bet. If the turn completes a flush draw or wheel, and V checks, we can turn our hand into a bluff by betting, but if V calls, it'll set up a difficult situation on a lot of river cards, where we'll have to decide if we want to barrel or give up.

50 pre is just a pot sweetener, you need to go much higher to like 80 as well as otf.

How I would proceed depends strictly on the villain. This doesn't seem like a bet sizing to fold you out, so what value hands can he have (all the sets and even 2 pair getting a great price to call pre and probably assumed more ppl would come along).

I don't like going broke here in general, even though after the straddle it's 90 bb's but we still started the hand with almost a thousand bucks in a 2/5 game after someone decided to straddle.

I lean highly towards folding without any reads but that's just me.

Pre is too small. I go $75/80 depending on table tendencies -- maybe even higher.

Flop is too small. I'm calling and proceeding cautiously. Reads would be very helpful.
