$700 eff. My image TAG. V nitty TAG, but not bad at all, knows what he's doing, tightest player at the table. Supertrappy with monsters: checks-checks OOP.

Fish limps in UTG+1, I make it $30 in CO with KdJd, V in BB calls, fish goes away.

Flop: Kh5s8h Pot ~ $70 V checks, I bet $45, V calls.
Turn: 2h Pot ~ $160 V checks.

Is this a good spot to pot control and check back?

Yup.

You have one pair and your kicker isn't even money. You are definitely not getting 3 (prob not 2) streets of value here.

The only reason to bet is to turn your hand into a bluff against KQ but it's prob a bad idea to bluff even nitty players off top pair. That heart scare card hits his perceived range more than yours. Plus you are IP and if another heart falls a small blocker bet OTR makes more sense as a bluff.

Think about the range a nitty player calls pre AND this flop with. You are actually prob beat OTF (better K, set) OR he binked a flush OTT. In other words, there is never value betting turn here.

Yeah, against a nitty tag our kicker means we will just be value cutting ourselves. The interesting question is this: when we check it back, do we call a donk bet if no jack comes? And if he checks the river, do we go for a really really thin value bet?

I haven't run the combos, but it probably makes a big difference whether or not villain is L/Cing with here with SC. If not this is an obvious fold, otherwise we have to run the FD/SD numbers.

Obvious fold eh? We got checked to. I think you need reread the hand description. A few times.

Fair enough. I meant check (or check back/reevaluate which=fold to river aggression) assuming SCs aren't in the Villain's range, which is the question that needs to be asked...
