I want more so to focus on the actual line Villian takes and include stacks & sizing after a few replies .

Reads ; Never played with V before. Came to table with $100 in chips. Added $300 in twenties after being told $200 min buy-in, although I think he already knew this and is generally a $1/2 player. Few minutes into him sitting I play a hand with him.

$400 eff HERO covers ; 7 handed H has AdQs utg+1 .Raises $15 (Fine at this table imo) not getting 3 bet light here and it's been getting through for a while.

V Calls in MP, 1 other call.

Flop Qc3c8x . Hero bets $30 V calls, 1 fold

Turn: 4x. Hero bets $60 V calls

River: 10c Hero checks planning to evaluate based on sizing. V Checks behind. I table and V tables QTo.....(So my suspicions are validated by this imo.)

On to the hand in question... 9 handed V starts the open limping again UTG+1, 4 more limps H overlimps BTN w/ As8s. Again I feel this is fine e at this table but I'm sure some would say Iso raise IP. Anywho...

Flop : 8x8c2c V bets. All fold to H who calls. BB folds

Turn : 7h. V Checks, H bets, V minraises+$10 H is and calls

River 3h V Checks. Hero


Anything different you would so facing this type of line from this V?

Hard to really contribute without stack sizes and bet sizes. I'd generally be trying to get it in here with V.

River seems like a pretty simple bet/call. I think the river check is indicative of his hand strength relative to what he thinks yours is.

Yeah 40% seems fine. He has a good hand but doesnt want to pay off imo so lets size this down

As described betting otr is bad. V sucks at poker, but you don't have to pay him off.

If you had more history, I could get behind betting, but not as described.

I would overbet pot on the river and fold to a reasonable raise. V has a lot of strong 8x hands you beat based on the HH, IMO, and they aren't folding. We're really only worried about 87, 77 and 22, which isn't much compares to all the 8x he has, and I'd expect boats to bet the river. He doesn't seem to want to build huge pots with strong non-but hands, but that doesn't mean he won't call large bets.

Ya I was really torn by this super bizzare line that I haven't experienced in quite some time. So V bets $20 otf, on turn I bet $45 he makes it $100 and I'm like wtf this seems like super nutted from this type of V. On river, when he checks I'm like lol trying not to laugh out of confussion and just realize he probably would have bombed river with hands I'm losing to didn't think he would go for a double x/r (what a sucker I must be) and just sizes river at $90 In CASe I had to bet/call and he min raises again, I'm losing the min. V ends up x/calling and showing an 8.

Eff stacks were S550 V covers after being gifted S500 which I won't get into

I'd just jam the river with that stack size. I'd also probably 3! the turn to $225-ish.
