2/5 blinds. Fairly new game. No specific reads yet but villian bought in for $500 and has played fairly tight and appears to not be a competent player.

V1 started the hand with about $420. Here has over 1k and covers.

V1 limps utg. Folds around to Hero who limps the button with T8xx. The small blind in this hand was this crazy asian guy who I expected to raise and was trying to play as many hands in position against him as possible. Asian guy in small blind made the rare fold for him and bb checked.

3 ways to flop.

($15) 8T2 bb checks, V1 $15, Hero makes it $45, bb folds, V1 flats.
($105) 7 V1 checks, hero bets $60, V1 flats
($225) 3 V1 shoves roughly $300

Thoughts on all streets and sizing? River clearly a fold but wondering if I should be getting to showdown here more often without facing a shove. And also - what hands does V show up with here. He could limp utg all sets but I have the T and 8 blockers. Does he limp J9 utg? Thanks guys!

You were expecting the small blind to raise, so you limped T8 on the button? I don't understand that. T8 is a really bad hand. No matter how crazy this guy is, T8 isn't the hand to be taking him down.

Sometimes with crazy people, you're better off being on their right and letting them have position on you pre-flop. That way you have last action after they raise (assuming he's going to be crazy and bet a lot). Your relative position is better.

"Tight" players are never limping J9 UTG.

I'd raise a little more on the flop....to like $60. Turn bet is fine relative to the pot.

What makes you say villain appears to "not be a competent player"? The answer to that question is likely going to help define his ranges.

LMAO @ your strategy of trying to play as many hands in position vs this guy when you only have position on him 1 out of every 9 hands so you limp T8off lol. If villain is raising a lot we should be taking the initiative away from him by raising. If we have a hand we don't want to raise with then we should fold.

If you want to play pots in position then seat change. Impossible to range villain given the information. All that's really important is that he is shoveling 1.5x pot into the middle, or to put it another way he just 5x'ed the turn raise size which is a gigantic leap for live players to make. He wants this pot a lot more than us and doesn't seem to be concerned with the straight at all.
