Yeah it is marginal but the result doesn't always wind up like this and he had probably close to an even money call so it doesn't matter a whole lot. I would agree if you are just calling bets then KQs won't win you money but if you are fighting for pots that miss ranges and bluffing enough then you should be profitable. I also like to put in 3bs with KQs a fair bit in position and wouldn't have minded one in this hand.
