The CO in this hand is the tightest reg I have ever seen. He has played exactly 3 hands over the last 3 hours. He has been at the table since before i arrived 5 hrs ago and his 3k stack hasnt budged.

Last hand he played, EP min raised the straddle to 20, he flatted next to act, I flatted button with 79dd, straddle called

Flop is Q78r, EP bets 30, he calls, i call

T completes rainbow EP bets 50, call, call

River 9, check check check

EP has AKs, this guy showed AA, and i lol TID

Every once in a while he raises in LP to steal the blinds

This hand doesnt rly involve him...just ranting

OTTH

Tightwad (3k) raises CO to 20, Unknown WG mid 30s serious looking, been here one orbit flats button (900)

Hero (1200) dealt AK

Raises to 100, tightwad snap folds, BTN calls

357

Hero bets 100 v calls

4

Hero bets 200, v calls

Q

Hero?

fwiw, tightwads play with AA doesn't seem that bad. I mean preflop is debateable, but flatting a UTG raise with every hand seems fine and postflop calling down seems fine too.

I would just check turn in the hand in question with all our hands. We can't really rep anything on that board. If anybody has a set or straight, it has to be BTN. We can't win every hand. And sometimes he gives up as well and we win.

As played on turn, I suppose river is one of the best cards to jam? I mean we're really just trying to get him to fold 88-JJ, A4-5, (if he has those pf) and maybe once in a blue moon he folds QX.

Check call flop, c/f turn would have been my line here. V has 88-JJ and isn't going to fold if he's come this far.

^^^Disagree with that range assessment fwiw. He looks, like a serious guy and he is right around the age of being 20 something when he started online and he 3balls those pairs imho pre so i dont see a made pf hand in his range as i think he 3b all 88- JJ pre and no sets or pair + straight that he does not raise a 3b pot with on flop

I see a lot of weak hands in his range atm, red 78 that missed improving OTR perhaps? Non nut spades?

He's an unknown though who has been there for 1 orbit you said, so how do you make those assumptions?

Also wouldn't surprise me if he turns over AA here even though it's a hand we block.

Too much of a grinderish vibe imo and he doesnt know how tight CO is and CO has 3k behind so, nah, no made pf hands imo. Does not make any sense for him from my POV

Why on earth do you think a solid player is 3betting the tightest guy you've ever seen with 88? I mean come on bro. Even if he doesn't know how tight CO is, 3betting 88 readless here is not standard. Nor does he have to raise his sets if he suspects you're the type to barrel away when you're drawing dead

You got a great hand but on some nasty flops you cannot play it. In any poker game, being limit or NL, you absolutely can’t win, it's impossible to win on some bad flops no matter how smart you are and no matter how well you play, if you don’t get good cards and good flops. Even the AA have some very bad flops they cannot continue in specific situations. Also impossible to make money if 3 things not happen at the same time: You and your opponent got good starting cards (2 things) and both of you guys hit the flop all at once (1 more thing). This is a flop game. You know 70% of your final hand at the flop.

The c/b heads-up may be OK once but weak on that board, but the turn is a waste and if you bet/call or shove the river ..., well.. wtf .. got to reload, I guess

Well, yeah the turn bet is ambitious, but he cant have a particularly strong hand and how many people can stack off within 15 minutes of a session with a mid pair vs a mawg he doesnt know on this crazy runout? Feel like a lot of people fold this turn with 88- JJ, even if i dont think he has those hands

So going thru the wormhole OTT I think I have to shove river. If i check i might have to call coz spades whiffed so shove seems better to me and giving up is no option with less than psb effective

Tough to make him fold for such a small amount. That said turn is pretty bad bet and bad sizing flop and turn

Im gonna renege on the 5 i owe you if you keep being mean

I think in some spots you recommend sizings that are too high. I actually only had black chips left so thats a bit of the reason for my sizing but i usually dont want him to fold this particular flop . I feel like he raises/calls with same frequency if i go 150, maybe folds to often to more and i want to set up a 3b,b,b,b line with about 500 otr. Think my sizing is fine here and i usually still have best hand on flop in a spot where a small % of his range will improve. Also i think he raises with any hand that has the potential to make a flush or straight, or a set so the sizing lets me get out cheap. Fine with slightly less than half pot on flop and turn when the river will be big. He only had 900 to start the hand. Sizing is relative to effective stacks

What's your reasoning behind the turn bet? Villain's range is much more set/straight-heavy than yours.

Also, I don't think you should have a flop betting range here fwiw.

I didnt think he had any straights when he flats the flop. I read this as middlish pair, perhaps top pair. I had no idea what takes this line as villain, but was thinking pair that i could fold out

Im not interested in this hand anymore because i didnt jam the river and put him to the test with his middle pairs. I like the turn bet coz f it, i am threatening his whole stack and he JUST SAT down

Spoiler:

Hero won the hand when river checked thru (he had Ac8c)

I'm awful skeptical that a river barrel gets through

Its close tho. You might be right tho. I think he was prepared to call down with 8s. He rarely folded to me after this hand but that may have been BECAUSE of this hand. It tilted him a bit
