Hero TAG. Pretty card so far so didnt play many hands. 1.5k
Villain mostly passive rec. Only aggressive postflop when he has the nuts or close to it. Stack 450

Straddle, hero raises in co to 30 with 75, only villain in straddle calls.

Flop (67) A83
villain checks, hero bets 40, villain calls
Turn (147) A837
villain checks, hero bets 125, villain tank calls and says something like "maybe its time to go home"
River (397) A837Q
villain checks, hero jams 250

Wasnt sure if he really meant what he said or if he said it to scare me so that I dont bet but my gut said it was to avoid getting jammed on but could be wrong obv. Seemed like a good hand to barrel and jam otr blocking turned 2 pairs and not having a high in our hand.

I personally rarely triple barrel whiffed flush draws because it's such a visible/obvious missed draw.

then....'maybe it's time to go home' is generally a monster.

so I'm in the don't triple this river because he's prolly calling with an A, even if he doesn't have a bigger hand and the teeny bit of showdown value with our 7 if he's got a bigger whiffed flush draw probably cancels out a lot of the hands that might fold anyway.

perhaps a shove folds out a random 8 that's got to the river and maybe a q high flush draw that's hit river but on balance, I'm checking back

Looks good until the turn, if the hands your targeting are bigger flush draws then its not a bluff any more, your betting for value/protection right? If your trying to bluff a passive fish off of top pair.... well I typically try to stray away from that.

On the river it sounds like your still targeting missed flush draws so are we value betting?

I would weight villain more towards top pair here. I mean maybe you fold out some 8x which is good but in general a loose passive V is going to have so much Ax here and your just not going to move him off it, at least not often enough to make it profitable long term imo.

I would check the turn, would rather see you barrel cards like a 9,6 or 4 where you pick up a gutter.

Ya maybe its a bad bluff. I thought his range is missed FDs, 8x and Ax and that I dont have much showdown value.
Villain tank called with Ah6s saying he thinks I have him beat but still called.

I am actually fine with it. Villain should have folded at some point -- just bad timing that he didn't. If you knew he was that sticky/bad/tilted, maybe it was a bad idea, but he should never have called you down.

Idk I'd like to have a little less showdown equity tbh. Blockers also kinda suck
