so I'm in SB 5 limpers in the hand. I got AA. effective 100 BBs for me. no shortie under 40 BBs. no reads just sat down. what do I make it?

$30 imo... playing oop post is shady, and you want 2 callers at most. Depending on the flow of the game (you just sat down so that's irrelevant) I would say maybe a little less or more, but $30 and 2 callers gives us a SPR of ~3, perfect for our hand post flop.

made it $30 more (so $33 total) and everyone folded and I was shocked tbh

Good raise. Not a terrible result.

If you've literally just sat down and most limpers are unknown (thus you are also unknown), ship it preflop (this is actually recommended in HOC).

Otherwise, if at a table full of regs, I'd probably make it $35 and go from there.

haha this is funny. it's def not wrong to ship it, but it's going to give us a messed up dynamic the rest of the session (which as long as we can utilize isn't bad.)

It depends how the table has been reacting to raises. Many callers = bigger raise.

If I got the math right:

sb $2
bb $3
5 Limpers $15

There's $20 in the pot. I make it somewhere between $40 and $60 to go--per table dynamic above.

Here in Oklahoma $60 raise will get you two callers on a good night.

I'd probably raise an odd amount more, something like $28 more and say "let's play a pot guys" as I raise. I think you'll likely get a caller if you give off a "I just got to the casino, I want to gamble vibe".

This is why we should ship it preflop.

I made it $30 more and they all folded with a sigh "if he called I was calling. here take my $3"
