Villain in the hand is a MAWG, very loose preflop, capable of bluffing.

Limps to Hero in BB who checks the option with QJo. 5 ways to the flop.

Flop: 8JQ (pot: 20)

Hero bets 25, MP calls, V calls on BTN.

Turn: 7 (pot: 95)

Hero bets 65, MP calls, V calls.

River: 7 (pot: 290)

V leads for $120.

Sorry, there's a typo in my post. Villain is in the SB and he check/called flop/turn and led river.

Ok so there are two Vs here that need to be accounted for in this HH. MP is very much a part of this in-hand and detail on him is equally as important as SB. Against these guys, we are ultimately going to call, but this river sucks, moreso even than a diamond, and it is by no means a snap. My first thought is how under a slightly different set of circumstances I would choose to fold or raise big as bluff against more sophisticated players+had I raised BB pre, etc. Obviously none of that applies here, but I am just mentioning it because that's how thin calling seems on the surface.

I still think shrug-call is ok against these players bc of how badly they likely misplay ranges, and how hands SB should be checking might bet, plus spazzes and bluffs for "$120" are a real thing. Also, you don't have to worry as much about MP behind you having too strong of a range by the river. In a tougher game, you might feel better about a fold because you are not the only defender in the hand which reduces the opportunity for SB to bluff successfully, betting and calling ranges (even in a limped pot) are far stronger/better, etc, but all in all this is not a comfortable spot.

Check/calls twice now leads 40% pot into 2 players? Never ever a bluff in my games.

Think you’re going to see 7xdd a lot here.
