2/2 table limpy passive

Hero good image, white late 20s, long beard. Opened a lot in position but so far only showed good hands. Stack 600 (started with 300).

V, italian tourist in 30s, dress shirt. Seemed to be decent. So far didnt get out of line and stacked someone with bottom two vs flush draw. Stack 900.

History hand 1: Hero 3! QQ BTN to 34 over Vs 12 open from MP, V quickly bet 140 (leaving himself 100 behind), Hero tank folded, another player said he saw that V had KK.

History Hand 2: Hero opened and flopped an openender and cbet it, V got it all in with another guy after check raising big over Heros cbet with bottom 2 vs flush draw of other villain.

History Hand 3: Villain played combo draw aggro with c/r and bet turn and river against other opponent (draw missed).

OTTH:

7 handed, BTN straddle on

V limps utg, Hero AT bets 18 co, BTN calls (irrelevant, stack 500), V calls.

Flop 58
A9 7
Checks to Hero who bets 42, BTN folds, V raises to 100, Hero calls.

Turn 258
A 977
V checks, Hero checks.

River 258
A977 T
V thinks 30 secs and bets 230, Hero?

Thoughts on all streets appreciated.

Well played.

Call the river and collect the chips.

Where do you put his hand?

J8 and 68 are the ONLY realistic hands that you lose too, right? Is he capable of limping with that?

Every other made hand would be firing again on the turn, based on the hand histories you provided.

His river bet is fairly polarizing, and there are a hell of a lot more airballs (Small pocket pairs, flush draws). There are also a couple of hands he could be value betting (A9, AK, AQ, AJ, and of course the AT chop)

Hard to imagine him giving up initiative if he flopped 999 or even A7, right? Out of curiousity, how would have you handled a Turn POT bet?

Okay, was wondering if this spot is a raise, but it seems to be a standard call to everyone, which is what I did, and
Spoiler:
he had A5spades
