9 handed 2/2/3 NL ($2 on button) $200 max buyin. Game is pretty good, loose and passive in general.

Hero's current image probably looks like a nit, as I have been card dead for around an hour. Unsure if anyone else has noticed that or knows that I generally play pretty tag/lag depending on the players in the game.

UTG+1 ($150) limps, he plays the standard loose/passive fishy type game. White male 35-45.

Folds around to Hero ($160) who raises to $18 with Q 9 on the button.

SB ($120) calls. White male 40s. SB is on the weaker side of loose/passive, one hand he played I saw him call 2 barrels with QT on a J 8 4 K board, then check back a A river heads up. SB recently lost about 1/2 his stack with top pair vs. a slowplayed set.

BB ($250) calls. White male late 20s, looks 1/2 Russian. BB is more of a bad loose aggro. He can't seem to help himself to bet when checked to, but his bet sizing is terrible so instead of bluffing he just valueowns himself. One hand I saw him play he raised to $10 with 22 then raise a super fish that led out for $12 on 3 4 J to $30, super fish called. Turn 7 checked thru and river Q he bet $40 after being checked to and showed 22 after super fish showed K3 and mucked lol...

Flop ($70): K 9 8

Checks around to hero who hates that board and checks behind.

Turn ($70): K 9 8 Q

SB reaches for chips seems somewhat interested in the hand and then checks. BB bets $20, UTG+1 folds. Hero??

I think I just call here; I think he bets worse here given you checked flop. and if he's passive he may still call a raise with a thin amount of hands you beat, but you are overrepping your hand... I call here and make a nice sized value bet on blank rivers if checked to. I call most blank rivers too since we are underrepped. We look like we have a draw or 1 pair hand by calling, but raising makes our range look really huge, and we dont have a "huge" hand. A raise is just too thin of a targeting range imo.

Reaching for chips and checking from a fish could maybe mean big draw, also wouldnt be worried of a check raise behind you so I'd head towards just flatting keeping the pot small incase you get a sick river and call any bets on a safe river

+1. This is a tough spot. Have to try and get some thin value if checked to OTR after calling OTT.

I think there is a case for folding here if you look to your left and see the passive SB doing something that could indicate a raise - i.e. cutting out chips; has kept his card marker on his cards and is paying close attn to your action etc.

Looks like the consensus here is to just flat, figured I'd post results if interested:

Spoiler:
I was 90% sure I had BB beat here, given his previous betsizing and overall badggroness, but wasn't 100% sure about SB.

I ended up shoving turn for my last $140 to look semi-bluffy, but also to protect against potential bad rivers in a possible multiway pot (A, K, J, T, 8, s).

I guess I misread SB's intent with the reach for chips check\. I really thought he had just a big spade/pair+spade. He snapped his last $100 with AJ and I failed to improve on river.

Hindsight is 20/20, but you almost never have the best hand if your turn ship is called here. Only better can call and all worse (usually) folds (even the big combo draws).
