V(SB, 18k) early 30s Hispanic, regular in this game. Usually very aggressive and 3b light, he was stuck over 20k, rebought 12k and ran up to 18k. So far, he plays on tight side and a bit gun shy. The week before he raise utg I3b him, he 4b I 5b jam 300bb and he folded AK

Hero has been pretty active, was up a lot and about even now at this point.

The hand, action player raised to 150, V raised to 500 in small blind, hero(straddle, 12k) 4b to 1600 action player folded, V made 4k. What can hero do in this spot????

I think in these higher stake live games there's so much in game info going on that no one knows the answer but you. You said he's a bit on the tight side and gun shy - a lot of people will 3b light but a 5b is a much different animal. Based off your info I would prob fold

Fold. You’re behind KK, AA and flipping vs AK. If range includes JJ, TT and super wide to AJ I’d still fold.

I’d live to fight another hand

I might fold merely cuz our 4b sizing is on the larger side

Based on how you described him you might fold, but I find it hard to believe that a presumably pro player, who's a reg in a deep fairly hs game has a 5betting range without bluffs. Pretty ugly spot, but I'd give him some credit and call. Fwiw the AK fold is standard from utg 300 deep in theory, ofc there are tables where it's just nitty.

Given that you want to fold now your 4b is a disaster. You push the fish out of the pot, and essentially 4b bluff a hand that's very good but has terrible blockers. This deep with the fish behind I prefer coldcalling, especially as you're clueless now vs a 5b.

What position was the original raiser and how bad/loose was he? If he was BTN or just a very loose opener in general then folding QQ is out of the question vs competent villain. Vs a loose fish opening range villain's small 3b is essentially an iso. That you should attack more aggressively than you normally would c4!, so ofc he gets to 5b lighter.

With a pot size bet after the call what is the plan when the V shoves the flop?
