$1/1 game. Effective stack is ~$170
Hero is in small blind with 10h 10d
UTG+1 limps, MP raises to 5, MP+1 calls, MP+2 calls, HJ calls, hero 3-bets to 16, MP calls, everyone else folds. Pot is now $49
Flop comes 6c Js 4d
Hero bets out $15, MP calls. Pot is now $79
Turn comes 6c Js 4d [7c]
Hero bets out $35, MP raises to $140, putting the hero all in. What should the hero do?

First, to address the mistake you made in this hand: your 3-bet was too small. You want your *Out Of Position* 3-bets to be larger than your In Position 3-bets—you should go at least 4x the size of the initial raise, and larger than that if other people (with position) called that raise. Your 3-bet should have been in the $20-25 range.

But, that’s all. Moving on to your question:

I don’t expect Tens to be good in this spot very often at all. But I also think if we fold them 100% of the time we are folding too much, it’s exploitable, we’d be letting Villains bluff us off the winner in too many hands. So we need to call in this spot *sometimes*, even though we expect to be very far behind most of the time.

So how to decide when to call?

I’d use blockers—I’d use the suits of my pocket tens. And your specific combo of a Heart and a Diamond—which block all but one of his JTs combos and unblock his flush draw combos that have a Ten in them—makes it the single *best* TT to call this shove with (as it blocks the most of his value hands and unblocks the most of his bluffing hands).

So yes, *I* am sigh-calling here, with this specific combo of pocket tens, but folding all the others.

(Then again, please keep in mind, I am a notorious payoff wizard.)

Preflop is way to small. Just calling is also an option. I'm not a big fan of the bet on the turn. What kind of weaker hand calls you here? I'd rather x/call to collect money from floats. If it goes check/check you can reevaluate, if you can valuebet small on the river (probably not).
