1/3, Saturday daytime, 9-handed
Table is generally loose and fishy.

Hand 1

Villain A (25yo white male, $700, 50/30) opens to $12 in the HJ.

Villain A is extremely loose-aggressive both pre and post, but does get away if bet into and is clearly beaten. However, he makes very loose "arrogance" squeezes pre-flop with any two cards (e.g. 6-4o) and in late position his raising range is close to 100%. Also, Villain A NEVER folds to a 3-bet in 6 hours of play in any position.

Hero ($440) 3-bets to $50 with red-10s on the button.

Villain B (30yo Asian male, $300) has just sat down at the table, he cold-calls Hero's 3-bet in the BB. Villain A calls.

Flop ($151): J-9-4sss

Villain B checks, Villain A checks, Hero checks

I checked, judging that neither Villain would fold any spade, jack, straight draw, or possibly a 9.

Turn: 3d

Villain B bets $100, Villain A folds. What do you do?
Moreover, should I have bet flop?

Hand 2

Villain C (70yo male, 60/10 fish, $400) opens to $12 in MP.
Villain D (50yo male, 25/15, $300) calls in the HJ.
Villain A (in Hand 1, $800) 3-bets to $60

Hero has 99 in the small blind. What do you do? What is the lowest pair you can continue in the hand with?

H1: if he actually NEVER folds to 3! I like $70 pre. folding ott. Yeah I’d b/f $75 OTF. We can eval based on run out and river sizing if faced with a bet (turn will likely go x/x)

H2: Fold JJs, AQ-. Do not call 5x 3!’s in the small blind. If PFR puts in a 4! you basically burned $60. This configuration comes up all the time 6-max online.

also ppl squeeze far less than they should LP vs MP at this level. I don’t see Villain A showing up with A5s ever here

Hand one: Pre is good, flop is good, fold turn

Hand two: Vs described villain I go with it and rip it

red tens need to much protection to x flop H1 imo. lotta dicey turns and we rate to have the best hand here a majority of the time. Villains at this level seem to play monotone boards rlly bad.

hand 2 i highly doubt we're folding better at a reasonable freq., but if we are somehow shoving is alright I guess . i'd like a cold 4! shove more if there was a cold caller in between (an extra $60 in there)

99 is the nuts vs VA

H1:

I lean to more just flatting preflop, but that's my style. A flat here will often isolate HU in position (and having one of the blinds come along isn't the end of the world), so at these stack depths (which we'll never want to commit unless we flop a set) and no significant dead money I'm cool with just playing some postflop poker in position in a manageable pot. Give me shorter stacks / more dead money / less chance of a flat iso'ing / etc. then more reason to lean to 3betting, but that's me.

Not in love with the other guy taking one cold to the face preflop, but I think I lean to a bet here. It's still possible we have the best hand and we're ok with perhaps a flop betting protecting our very vulnerable hand and might buy us one step closer to the river showdown. I might prefer a check better with a less vulnerable hand like red AA.

I think a flop bet helps prevent these awkward turn spots, plus we can be the ones controlling the sizing, plus we can likely just fold if someone plays back (knowing at the very least that even hands playing back most likely have huge equity). I'm not really sure what to do on the turn, and this is another reason I'm cooler with flatting preflop (i.e. unless you're super sure of what to do postflop then it's likely you'll be better off keeping the pot smaller preflop).

H2:

Really dependent on stack size and how often he is squeezing as a 3bet. If I'm sitting at my $200 topped up stack, against a guy who has shown any crap hands as a 3bet I might be fine shipping here (can never call for this amount, it's either a ship or fold). Much deeper, and especially against someone who hasn't shown any junk 3bets, I probably just sigh fold almost everything except the very top pairs and just move on.
