Live 1/3 game villian has over 2k stack and super lag (seen him fold preflop maybe twice, and is the preflop raiser probably at least 85%) , Ive been at the table for about 3 hours playing tag and have $312

Hero UTG AA
Villian BTN

Pre flop Villian straddles his BTN, hero limps , 2 more callers , Villian raises $31 more, hero re raises to $106, limpers fold , villian calls

Flop: 8s 2d As hero checks, villian checks

Turn: 3d , hero checks, villian bets $80, hero shoves?

Interested in your guys thoughts if I played this horrible from start to finish , I feel like my PF play was fine because I could almost guarantee he was goin to raise his straddle.

I am definitely no expert in board texture or anything but thought I was switching things up by checking the flush draw flop (was half expecting him to bet) so I could shove or at the very least maybe let him catch up

thanks for any help or input

Welcome to the forum, OP. Please don't include results in your post, as they bias advice. I edited them out. Please wait until discussion dies down, or at least a day to mention them.

I don't see a FD flop, only a FD turn. Flop is super dry, so I don't hate the check to rep KK or something and see if the LAG tries to blow you off the hand. Even if he checks back as he did, board is really dry for a 3-bet pot with only one A remaining, so I don't worry about giving a free card.

AP to turn, I'd bet for value, as we want to play for stacks and we won't be able to do that on just one street unless he sucks out. Not going to mention any of the rest, since I saw the results.

There IS a FD on flop. And a 2nd one on the turn.

Ah, so there is. Misread it. I still don't hate the flop check, but I think two FDs makes turn even more of a mandatory bet.

When we flop top set, it is hard for the villain to have top pair. When we flop in particular a set of aces, the villain cannot have an overpair, either, so the villain's value continuing range is crippled. Slowplaying the flop is appropriate, flush draw or not.

With two flush draws out there on the turn, to say nothing of wheel draws, there are lots of river cards that can kill our action, whether or not they actually cost us the pot. So it becomes appropriate to put in more action on the turn.

Given stack sizes, I think hero's turn shove is appropriate.

Preflop is standard for me.

I probably lean to a scared-looking lol $35 or something stupid like that on the flop; I just think this has more chance of inducing than a check (which looks a little too tarpy). But a check isn't horrible.

As played, if I'm following thru with the checking-to-induce plan on the turn (which I don't mind) then I probably lean to just calling and checking one last time on the river to induce. Although I guess it's debatable whether he thinks the $126 left in a $372 is going to work as a bluff; so I don't hate the check/shove either.

ETA: Missed that there are now two flush draws on the turn, plus some other straightening scare cards. So perhaps more cool with a check/jam or even a donk. Regarding betting to make sure we play for stacks, the SPR is lol 1, so even if it gets checked down to the river we can still reasonably shove.

So the OP wasn't a strat post at all, but instead it was a bad-beat story.

Never mind.

I guess a bad beat story because it was a bad beat, posted only because I wasn't sure if I played it really bad or not
