Okay, so I live in a small town, and the biggest game that goes regularly is an extremely soft 2-40 Spread Limit game. I beat that game fairly easily, but unfortunately I feel like my deep stack no limit game has suffered because of it. I got a chance to play 1/3 NL while visiting the in-laws for Easter, and found myself in some awkward spots deep. This is probably a pretty standard spot, but I felt lost, and wasn't sure what to do.

Backstory: This is at Fraser Downs in Surrey, BC. I've only played there one other time before, and that was last October. I've been chatting with the player to my immediate right (not involved in this hand) who was clearly a regular in this game. He was pretty open dispensing his reads of players to me. Since I had only played there once before, there obviously isn't any history to be had aside from that.

Villain in this hand is a mid-twenties Asian male, glasses, Vancouver Canucks baseball cap, earbuds. He came over to this table only a few orbits before, carrying a huge stack. The guy to my right told me he is an extremely aggressive player, and he has seen him run over the table on many occasions. That being said, in the twenty minutes or so he's been here, he seemed overly focused on his phone, and only got involved in one hand, calling a shortstack 3-bet shove with JJ. Current stack is at least $1500, potentially more.

Hero is a mid-thirties African-American male wearing a Michigan Wolverines baseball cap (and talking incessantly about UM's victory over Kansas earlier that evening!). Has only been involved in one hand since villain sat down. Hero 3-bet an MP open, and took down a Q-high flop with a c-bet. Current stack $700.

UTG straddles to $6.
Hero in EP raises QQ to $15.
Villain in CO raises to $55.
Folds back to hero...

While given the read that he's aggro, his actions have indicated otherwise. Not sure what he's doing on his phone, but he only seems to be half-paying attention to the table. Is just calling too weak? If you raise, what size? Cringe/fold to a 5-bet? It has been a while since I've been playing a deep NL game like this, and I'm certainly rusty. Sorry if this is standard...

Against this villain I would flat call. I wouldn't be set mining, but I would reevaluate most flops. If an Ace or King hits I'm fine check folding.

I'm with Brojay. I don't like raising here because we're in a really awkward spot on the flop if he flats. I call and see a flop.
