I can't seem to find a good guide to playing holdem double board bomb pots. My local $1/3 game has $15 bomb pots every half hour (.....so $240 for an eight hour session).

Is there a LLSNL guide to double board holdem bomb pots? Any general tips or common mistakes?

I play $15 double board bomb pots in my 2/3 game.

Just realize that you have to play these very carefully. Like I see people all the time just blast off with top pair on 1 board, which is definitely not strong enough to bet vs a field of all hands.

I like to bet with nutted hands only. Either the current nuts or something very close like top 2 on a dry board, or hands where I have a nut draw on both boards, etc.

Just realize that people play wayyyyy too loose in these.

If youve played Omaha at all it will greatly help you in how you should play the bomb pots

It seems like there's a ton of money in bomb pots, but it also seems like they're perfect for LAGs. It's pretty easy for someone to put all your chips at risk. $100+ in the pot pre-flop. Then, even a 1/2 pot bet called by one person puts $200 in the middle.

Do you like to have something on both boards or just a stranglehold on one board?

One clue to point you in the right direction.
Look at the difference in strategy for HU pots vs 3 way.

Just playing nitty isn't going to work though it will keep you out of trouble for the most part.

If you're at a table full of people who don't understand the mechanics of these and are just playing their hands super nitty you can print.

I saw a really bad (but aggressive player) who likes to be called "donkey" just blasting away and scooping huge bomb pots without ever showing his hand.

It seems so unpredictable though. Some players won't stick their money in without a monster. Others will stack off with top pair.

If there's no basic strategy guide, I guess I'll just post some bomb pot hands I play or observe.

I'm really just looking to break even in the bomb pots, but I don't think I can do that playing nitty.

Basic strategy is you should have at least one or the other. Like if you have a stranglehold on one board its good to go bananas and try to get people off of whatever they have on the other board.

Or you want to have something decent on both boards like stuff that can make strong hands on both or at least drawing to the nuts on one.

You want to play cautiously sometimes with hands that are strong now but are likely not to be by the end. Like definitely dont go crazy with a flopped small flush on one board.

To get a feel for the strategy, try dealing out a bunch of hands and see how they play out to the river. Then you can see how it would be best to play certain hands.
Usually most players will have missed completely so you are deciding whether to put pressure and try to scoop, or enticing 1-2 calls for a hand that is a lock on one board and a strong draw on the other.

Make sure you have the nuts or close to it on at least one board or very good draws on both -- and then just call mostly. DO NOT BLUFF. Put max pressure when you have the nuts on one board on the turn/river.
