If we flat the MPs shove, BB will be being asked to call $120 of his remaining $175 stack.
If we shove, the BB will be being asked to call his $175 (just $50 more than the flat).
From the perspective of his stack, there isn't much difference. I mean, if he's calling $120 surely he's calling $175.
If we flat, I guess it shows slightly more weakness on our part and perhaps he gets more confident with his 99/etc., but typically only if he's ******ed and can't hand read (I mean, what are we playing this way that 99/etc. can beat?).
Course flatting risks scare cards (such as an A/K) on the turn which possibly prevents him from getting in his last $50 with hands like 99, although with so much already in the pot I'm not sure he can fold.
I'd probably lean towards a flat because never underestimate the ******edness of our opponents. Here's a hand I recently had. Villain limps TT, I raise AA, he flats HU OOP. SPR is a pretty small 3 on the flop which is 944r. He donks pot. I call, even though I think this probably turns my hand face up for exactly what it is (a big overpair, ldo?). 2r turn. He shoves. Did my flat on the flop convince him that his smallest overpair was somehow good even though any moron could see otherwise? Would a shove convinced him to perhaps manage a fold on the flop, even though calling is just as strong? People are morons, so I would play to this and lean towards a flat on the flop.
