NYC 1/3 Private game

Villain 1: young guy. Plays weird, bad, traps with not so strong hands. Non believer. Couple of examples: never raises pre. Limp/called $15 w AKos utg in 5-way pot. Called delayed Cbet and river bet with 9 on ak9xx board. I had AT as pfr. First time I play with him though and it’s only been an hour so I don’t know yet exactly how bad he is and in what other specific ways. Only passive pre though. More aggressive post.
Villain 2: a good amount of history with him but not really relevant here.

OTTH
3 limpers (including v2, utg+1) to hero in the HJ with Ac9s. I call.

I had been attacking limpers regularly in this game but usually got 3-4 callers. So didn’t want to get in that spot with A9os. And wasn’t really feeling folding either. So there we are. (Raise or fold better?)
SB calls. Villain 1 in BB calls.

Flop (6 players. $18): 982cc
Checked around to me. I bet 20. Called by villain 1 and villain 2.

Turn ($78): Qc
Check to Hero who bets $55 (with MP and NFD)

do we prefer checking behind here as hand has SDV and villains could have a club willing to put money in pot on river if flush comes?

V1 goes AI for $205 total (pot $283)
V2 folds.
Hero? ($150 to call)

If you want to get into a pot for cheap with A9o on the Button then it probably ain't horrible (although I would insta-fold), but from the HJ it seems very meh at best. I fold preflop.

I don't mind our flop bet when it is checked to us closing the action. But since we're not committed we're not as keen on building a pot, so in spite of draws calling a PSB 100% of the time I would size to no more than 2/3 PSB (to counter-act the times we're not ahead).

I would check behind on the turn. We have showdown value plus don't want to get blown off our draw. On top of that, this is a pretty poor card (as there's an old saying regarding someone always having JT in a multiway pot, and it just got there).

Even if we estimated a rather generous 11 outs we're not getting the odds to continue (assuming we're behind, which is a pretty safe bet given this action), so our bet has forced us to fold our equity / chance at making a semi-disguised monster against likely another decent hand.

Thank you for that.
I agree. Turn bet was pretty horrible.

Correction: Pot is $338 after his AI. But still no odds to call.

I don't like the call PF. I'd be much happier to limp along here with something suited/connected than A9o. Raise or fold. Mostly fold.

Flop bet is good, so long as we're *not* betting this flop too often. With BDFD and TPTK I'm definitely betting and betting big.

For the love of god, check turn. Continuing to bet here is terrible. Do we even know if we're value betting or bluffing? Very few worse hands call and lots of his worse hands from the flop just improved to very strong hands. Betting here wastes all our equity and SDV when we get raised (which will happen a lot).
