1/3 local casino game
Hero: young Asian who show down serval good hands last round or so.
Villain. White male late 30s. Loud. Preflop straight forward. Does not know much about his post flop(either he check fold, or bet and no one call him down). I always thought he behave like drunk but he does not drink at all.
Table is passive. Hero over limp MP after two limpers with TT.
Villain on the button, raise to 18. Only hero call.
Stacks is 400 effective (on a 1/3 is pretty deep).
Flop J33. Hero check call a 20$ bet.
Turn is a 5, two diamond in board.
It get check check
River card is anther J, miss the flush.
Hero should?????????
Hand actual play-out: hero check, villain bet 30. Hero decide to raise to 100 ??????
Villain tank fold.
Villain claim ( no show) he fold KK
Any suggestion on the river play?
Thanks

I'd raise Preflop instead of over limping.
I'd rather just call the river than raise. Im calling not because of the river card(I don't think villain has a j often) but because I don't think we get value from anything worse. Im also not worried about villain having better because I'd expect better hands to bet the turn.

Raise preflop. You have one of the best starting hands in Hold'em.
River is either a bet or a c/c. I doubt villain had KK the way he played the hand, but if he did, lol what a fish.

yes the better play that 1,3 players dont make is to bet to get value from an ace or other pair.
your check raise is a great play at times but not here as you have a hand that can win on its own most times.

I'd lean towards raising preflop after a couple of limpers in MP with TT. To be honest, unless Villain is pretty bad, I doubt setmining HU OOP is profitable, although I guess we have more than a setmining hand here.
Don't show results next time.
I'm cool with the play to the river.
I could go either check/call or bet/fold on the river. If he's passive ABC calling station, I might lean towards bet/fold. If he's aggro and perhaps bluffy I'd lean towards check/call. I don't like our check/raise, I doubt a worse hand is paying us off so we just get owned by better, and I kinda doubt a better hand is folding (most people would probably bet their overpair on the turn, so I doubt he has one).

I don't mind mixing in an overlimp like you did pf. I wouldn't make it the norm, and I wouldn't do it if there were only 1 limper.
The flop bet does seem week, it's barely bigger than his pf sizing. Fine calling that.
Once he checks back the turn it looks like air or a pp less than Jacks.
So otr I'd bet small enough so A-high/99 can call. A-high will call small enough to chop, 99 will call thinking you have A-high. It's a rare spot where being under-rep'd matters, usually you're under-rep'd but V isn't bluffing anyway, here it could work out. And make it a b/f.
