Playing a local game which is playing exceptionally loose and aggressive today since there's no 2/5 game going yet. Hero playing TAG game, although in the past orbit I've raised 4 premium hands out of 5 from the LJ back to this hand, of which I am in the big blind.

V is new to the table since the last orbit so he probably perceived hero as loose/spewey since I just recently opened so much in EP.

Effective stacks $300

BTN straddles to $7. Sb folds. Hero raises to $22 with AdKs. V calls UTG. Folds all at around and we're heads up.

($49) Flop is K:heart: 9:club: 3:spade:

Hero has been cbetting with high frequency and decides to check for balance. V checks behind.

Turn is 3:heart:

Hero bets $25. V flats relatively quickly.

River 7:spade:

Hero bets $85. I'm hoping the bet looks bluffy. I'm expecting to get called here by weaker kings and middle pairs. V shoves for $240.

I'm having a hard time figuring out how many bluffs an unknown V can have here..

V is young 20s/neck beard/hoodie type.

I understand the logic for checking flop but we get a lot of calls on this particular board so value bet that. With a spewy image, turn we can overpot ship and get some crying calls vs pairs who don’t believe and charge max for the draws

Probably a trivial fold but I call, villain is basically repping a 3 and flopped sets only. I could see him make this play with AK too. Maybe k9 but unlikely.

I ended up calling and he showed 77 but, without playing the result, I'm thinking the river should have been a b/f based on the size of his shove. I realize I'm not losing to many combos here and they're most likely value hand by far are 3 combos of 99, but looking at V's perspective I just don't see what he shoves here besides a few weak pairs that don't want to go to showdown and his value hands. Any Kx is going to call my river bet if he doesn't believe me, as are hands like QQ/JJ/TT.

The players at this casino are particularly spewey which is what got me to call, I think. I didn't know enough about this guy, though, and I think my biggest mistake was in assuming he was spewey like the rest of them.

It’s not a bet fold based on your logic to make it look like a bluff. If you wanted to make your bet look like a bluff you should be planning on calling if raised.

Making it bluffy to get called doesn't mean you have to also be willing to call a shove. Not sure what makes you think they're not mutually exclusive.

That's like saying you can't bet for value but fold to a raise. That's generally the basis of a bet/fold.
