You use 78s as a bluff but won't raise A9 for value. Why don't you want to put $ in the pot with the best of it while you have position on a fit-or-fold opponent?

Because A9 could easily be dominated and I don't know what the players behind me are going to do, nor do I know their stacks. I do not consider A9 a value hand. I consider it a trouble hand.

78s is much easier to play post and much more disguised.

don't like the a9 deep vs deep from the co.. Id rather have 87s here maybe 76s rather than a9 here. pre is so bad, raise more if you're looking to knock the nit out and get HU, to take it down, basically any time you open raise raise to 15 or 20 depending on table even 12 sometimes

78 may be easier to play but I'd rather have A9 due to its SDV in loose games (which are the majority of LLSNL games). Assuming we flop an ace we should be able to figure out quickly if we are behind. Against this particular villain we should be raising ATC if we are fairly certain we can get through the blinds.

Note I pegged him as "fit or fold" because he folds too much to cbets, which is why I didnt think he floated me with just an Ace.
I agree with Hail Mary, I think u can take sets out of his range and add a10+, hence I think u missed some value on the turn and river. Older nitty guys don't like to fold top pair, I think u played it to safe. Winning poker is all about thin value.

The only thing I don't like about the way this was played was the PF raise. I'd raise bigger to $15. $10 after a limper is too small IMO. If the raise takes it down, then fine. And the fact you have A9 decreases the chances you'll face AA, AK, AQ, etc.
