1/2NL

Hero: late 30's, somewhat overweight clean-cut white guy blue polo shirt. Playing at this table about 15 minutes. I raised to $7 from UTG with KsQs, flopped top pair and ABC'd my way to winning an $80 pot. $350 behind

Villain: 21-ish "cool and quiet" Asian kid with a cocked baseball cap. Only info on villain is he 3bet from the button to $27 after hero raised to $7 from EP and MP1 called. Hero and MP1 both folded to the 3bet. $400 behind

PF action:

Hero is the big blind with JcJs

Players fold to MP1.
MP1 ($200) limps.
Players fold to Villain
Villain (BTN) ($425) raises to $15
Players fold to Hero (BB)
Hero (BB) calls $15.
MP1 calls $15.

Pot approximately $45

Flop: 9d 4c 2s

Hero (BB) checks.
MP1 checks.
Villain ($410) bets $25.
Hero (BB) ($335) raises $45 more, to $70.
MP1 folds.
Villain (BTN) calls $45 more.

Pot approximately $180.

Turn: 5h

Hero ($265) bets $125.
Villain ($340) calls $125.

Pot approximately $430.

River: 4c

Hero ($140) goes all-in for $140.
Villain ($215) calls $140.

Villain shows Ac3s for a straight.

Please advise on Hero's play.

Here's my own analysis:
I should not have flat-called the $15 raise PF since I needed to protect my Jacks. This led villain to polarize my range which is why he called $45 more on the flop with only an Ace and a gutshot. Other than that, I am not sure what else I could have done here given the board was so friendly to my hand and it's such a good opportunity to get value out of hands like TT and 88.

Be more aggressive pre. In Hero's hand history, don't raise to $7 UTG. Raise at least $10, probably more.

In the actual hand. 3-bet pre. V's probably opening pretty wide here. Raise for value. You almost always have the best hand pre.

As played, probably just call down. Hero's hand is very under represented. Give V a chance to fire his air + pot control OOP against a possible higher PP.

Lol...this is not why he called down. He called down because he sucks.

In addition, while I usally don't 3-bet out of the blinds with JJ, the BTN's raise looks so much like a steal that I would likely reraise here with JJ.

Definitely be more aggressive pre. On such a safe rainbow flop, either pot or shove. Horrible villain that was allowed to get there.

I suggest in the future not to post the results. It influences the answers considerably.

JJ can be played like a medium pair or a big pair. Pf, I prefer playing these like a big pair and 3bet. Since you chose to play this like a medium pair, your raise on the flop turned your jacks into a bluff. If you're bluffing and the villain doesn't fold, it is time to stop putting money in. If you're going to bluff, you need to make a bigger bet.

I agree with Venice id like to 3bet here most of the time. As played though I wouldn't get beat up about the hand. We're taking it down a lot of the time.

If villain is going to call a raise on this board with a reasonably large portion of his range, then preflop is certainly a 3 bet.

With 7 outs he needs to win 45/ (7/47) which is 302 to justify his call on the flop. He won 180 + 125 + 140 which is 445. Clearly an easy +EV call.

The pot is 95 and hero raises 45. It would be a mistake to fold to a less than half pot bet on the flop.
