Normally I don't play short handed unless its late stages of a tourney but degen is gonna degen. I got into a game yesterday that went from 6 handed to 3 handed where the three of us were playing 250 to 350 BB effective. Aside from playing wider hand selections and learning to value bet super thin, what tips do you have for playing 3 and 4 handed? I have my ranges for playing 7 to 10 handed but how do I need to adjust those when we get to 3 handed? What hands should I be raising? 3 betting? 4 betting? Calling? Folding? I found myself playing fairly wide and floating one players frequent cbets, but still struggling to really know where I was in the hand. Especially if he would follow up with a Turn bet. I definitely leaked alot of money out here.

Any merit to straddling the button 3 handed? It was working for a while, but then one of the players would regularly limp with holdings such as Ace Jack, and I found myself playing the straddle more cautiously later.

I don't see the point in the button straddle. You can get the same effect by open raising almost anything remotely playable.

The idea being that you are playing a bigger game when IP and a smaller game when OOP.

And you still have the option of raising anything remotely playable if you wish.

Care to define remotely playable? I found myself struggling with hands such as K8o, knowing I'm likely ahead of their range, but against much aggression and sitting there on the Turn with King high facing a big bet and no outs aside from my overcard.
