1/2 NL QQ UTG vs massive 3bet and I have a tight image 1/2 NL QQ UTG vs massive 3bet and I have a tight image

I have very limited live experience and don't know 3bet/4bet ranges well. I come from an online backround.

So its about an hour into my session and I've only played a couple hands so far (have tight image). I have about 130bbs in front of me. I open QQ UTG to 5bbs or 10$, I get one caller OTB, and the BB 3bets it to 55$. BB covers me. My reads on the 3bettor is that he is somewhat competent though pretty loose (likes to overlimp a decent amount of hands) and he also 3bets and raises a bit more than his fair share. In that first hour at the table I had seen him 3bet/squeeze IP 2 times (maybe 3.... kinda forget). I also saw him raise and then call a 3bet a few times. Despite this guy having 3bet 2x already, I thought his raise against me was almost certainly for value considering the size of his raise, my position when opening PF, and my image. Also, this guy has friends that are internet poker pros. He said some of them moved to Thailand to play online poker. So he may talk strategy with them and it would prob explain his higher 3betting frequency. Do you think he does this with AK? Should we muck it?

Often enough I see this raise as A/K or QQ+, and if you're perceived as tight, probably KK+.

I'll let it go and find a better spot.

Normally I let this go, but it's close considering his 3 bet frequncy and the stacks. I would jam if I had 80bb but at 130oop I fold.

I think it's either that he is way ahead or way behind. I'd lay it down though.

First, he is now oop and 3b a utg tight raiser. Previously he has 3b ip only. It's a big difference. And if he is observant he knows your utg range is tight, very tight. He's not going to do this unless he has a hand. The 3b is so large that it leaves a slightly bigger than psb on the flop which you know villain is going to shove so you are probably playing for your stack. I think you can just find a better spot. You have position on him and are only invested 5bb. No need to go nuts in this spot.

Now, if I was an observant villain and knew you knew something about poker I would do this with AK or a mid pair here. I would count on the fact that you know you are tight and I am 3b an utg raiser. I figure you would put me on a huge hand and probably fold. But it would be contingent on the fact that you are sophisticated enough to know this. If you have been talking about online poker I would consider it against you in this spot. That's why I think he could possibly be way behind your QQ here. But it depends on the sophistication of the villain. Without knowing much I still think it's a fold even if we know he is doing this because I think there is just much better spots to get him especially in position.

In live poker 3b an utg raiser is usually AA, sometimes KK

If he thinks you are tight and he is a good player then this is what I think you will see:

AA often
KK often
AK sometimes
QQ sometimes

Most of the time you are going to lose a lot in this situation against a good live player who knows you are playing very tight (you have played two hands in an hour?). And when you win with the hand, it's not usually going to be as much as you think.

Wait for a better opportunity.
