Local 9-handed 1/2 cash game. Reads on villian: He's raised lots of pots, shown down some marginal hands (e.g. Q9o, K8s, etc) and made some loose calls. Also, villian usually plays 2/5, but not enough 2/5 players for a game so he's playing 1/2 instead. My image: Pretty tight. This hand is my first 3-bet of the night after being at table for over 1 hour.
No real questions on preflop/flop. MP1's raise/call-3bet range is loose enough for 88 with position to be ahead, and I think with my image he would tend to put me around AK/TT+. Flop c-bet also seemed standard against LAG, planning to reluctanctly call any shove on the draw-heavy board.
Three questions:
1) After flop, what hands are in villian's range?
2) Is turn a shove? After the hand, I thought about it and with $130 left, I think a shove folds draws, maybe even Ts and weak Js.
I am almost never 3 betting 8's in this spot. Look at the mess ur in 3bet cbet half ur stack is in the middle he can have almost any thing here from a set of 10's to AK. I fold reload and save this love for lag raises to 12 gets 4 callers and we make a sizeable 3bet out of the blinds. savvy
Seems universal that I went wrong preflop. My normal 3-bet range is closer to JJ+/AK, but at this table at least one in three hands was 3-bet. Don't you have to loosen up on such a table? I had already raise/folded a few times.
1. 1010+, AQs+AK
2. No shove, I don't see any weak 10s or Js in his range here after calling 3bet.
3. Fold he's likly betting for value here or possibly bluffing a missed draw w/ something like AhKh. I see a set here though with the flop call turn check and river bet. I'm thinking he checks turn here certainly expecting a 2nd barrel from an overpaid in your 3bet range.
