Playing 1/2 NLHE early morning Detroit. Just sat down and it's like my 5th hand, and I get my third pocket pair in a row: 99. $5 straddle from the button which means SB is first to act. He calls, so does the BB, villain UTG+1, I call, then CO raises to $35. Button deliberates and decides to call. Now SB and BB also call. Perfect time for a squeeze, right? So UTG raises it to $95. Hero?

Sorry, forgot to list stacks: UTG has over $400, I have $168, CO and Button have over $400, SB has about $170 and BB has a little over $100 left at the point the villain pumps it to $95. Hero?

not really a squeeze if you dont have enough to get villian(s) to fold.

Also, too many people have shown interest in this hand. Squeezes work better when there's only been the raise and one caller. After the raise and three callers, just set mine.

Deucalion, I was planning to call the $35, but now UTG raises to $95 and I can't see just calling here. Doesn't it seem like UTG might be resqueezing here with a pocket pair? Is there a chance I am ahead here?

calling $35 with your stack is not very good.

Early morning is typically a tighter game where I come from.. I fold here. Maybe if you had more info on UTG you could make a shove. Say... If SB/BB are tight and utg is a loose agg cannon taking advantage of grandma, you may want to consider a high variance shove..

Although, from the sound of your first 5 hands.. you probably have low fold equity. This which works to your disadvantage.. 10-qq is probably still calling your shove.

So you only put in $5???? or did you already put in the $35?

Either way I fold. Cash game is not a tournament you don't have to make squeeze play etc or shove with any pair...Especially at 1/2NL. I see this all the time. Some guy who clearly plays tourneys online comes in and buys into 1/2NL for $200, calls some raises, doesn't win any hands, bleeds away some chips, now he's down to like 120ish. Then BAM theres are raise a couple callers and the monkey shoves all in for his 120 with pocket 66.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I guess I have found another leak in my game. I went all in and got CO and button to fold, but SB says, what the hell, and so BB also says, what the hell, and then UTG goes into the tank for like 3 minutes. I was thinking about calling clock, but then he pushes the $65 call and turns over aces. The whole table berated him for slow rolling, but that's neither here nor there. My 99 was up against K4dd and KQo too, but aces took it down.

Yes, UTG is squeezing with a pocket pair. A big one. AA or KK and nothing else. If there wasn't the straddle, I might say you're slightly ahead. Straddled pots are different, though. From memory, every pot I've seen that was limp/re-raised when a straddle was on involved aces or kings. It's really the perfect spot since after a few limpers, someone from late position will feel they HAVE to pick up the dead money with any two cards. Calling the $95 would've been terrible. Stacks are no longer big enough to set-mine, and you're not winning unimproved. I probably would've called the CO's raise, though. Especially after the blinds called, as well. Once UTG re-pops it, though, time to give up completely.
