This was the very first hand I played with this table, as my previous table broke.

I sat down, making it a 6 handed game.

I look down in the Small blind at AA

PREFLOP
UTG + 1 Opens to $6 ($60 stack)
UTG + 2 Cold calls ($500 stack)
HJ folds
Button folds
SB (hero) Raises to $21 total with AA ($650 stack)

Folds back to UTG +1 who calls $21
UTG + 2 calls 21

Pot preflop: $65

FLOP

Flop comes 992

SB checks (hero)
UTG + 1 checks
UTG + 2 checks

Turn

Turn comes K

SB checks
UTG + 1 shoves for $39
UTG + 2 flat calls
SB (hero) calls

Pot is now: $182

River

River comes Q

SB (hero) checks
UTG + 2 bets $100
SB (hero) tank calls

Showdown

UTG + 2 shows K9
UTG + 1 mucks
SB (hero) mucks

NOTE: I didn't know any of the players and their play styles. I also didn't include any suits in this thread because I don't remember them because they were totally irrelevant as no flush draw ever came in.

My reasoning
: I acknowledge I may have played AA very unconventionally, I did this mainly thinking that given my flop and turn check, I wouldn't be able to get value from mid pocket pairs on multiple streets and I under rep my hand to allow them to draw to their over pairs and keep bluffs in range. I checked two streets knowing that if I were behind I was drawing almost dead and if I were ahead there were very few bad turn cards given there being no flush draw. I also pot control when villain has the occasional T9s, 98s, etc combos that they peel with pre flop.

First, suits are still relevant because it helps define V ranges. Additionally, a flush not coming in *can* be relevant when there's unanticipated aggression OTR.

Pre is fine. I don't really like checking two streets. This is a pretty good flop for you and you can bet expecting Vs to peel with worse, if you'd usually c-bet this flop with the lower half of your pfr range I see no reason to stop now. K is a great turn and having checked the flop I would have bet the turn expecting it to have hit someone. Having checked the flop and turn id probably lead the river to set my price against a K.

I think you lost the minimum. However, I think your passive line isnt going to get you maximum value when your opponents don't have a 9... which is the majority of the time.

Yeah your analysis makes sense. I just figured that if the K or maybe even the Q hit villain that they would be betting when checked to and I would be inducing bluffs. In my head I saw 2 viable ways of getting value from villain's pairs, I just decided to check to keep his range wide and I would be put to a difficult decision if my bet was raised on the turn or river.

I would raise slightly more pre $24-30 as I really want to go heads up but in this hand your raise size is ok

I never check this flop and bet 1/3 of the pot as I think Villans will fold or call with worse.

I would also bet turn.

Here's the scoop, you lost the hand but just found out that you found a great table that is likely to pay you off big times! That's worth getting your AA cracked the first hand

I like checking to induce bluffs if I know Vs will bluff when checked to. Against unknown Vs, I think there's more value in just betting yourself. Without info on Vs or history, I think any raise on the turn or river would just be a whimper fold. It's almost never a bluff at these stakes, so calling is just going to be a massive mistake.

Haha very well put sir, definitely didn't think like that in the moment. Too bad the dude hit and run me, leaving the next on his next BB.
