1/2

V1 (500): Young guy w/ earphones on. Tight pre and abc post flop. Saw him play a hand where He flopped trips and turned a boat and he bet really small on all streets.
V2 (~150): Middle aged asian sh***y reg. Losing big tonight but keeps rebuying for 100. Too loose pre and abc postflop. Always think Hero has the goods when he bets.
Hero (350): Young guy. Tight but not too nitty image and havent done anything out of line yet.

Hero on the BUT w/ Js9c

Pre: V1 utg+1 limps, V2 utg+2 raises to 10, 3 callers, Hero calls, blinds fold.

Flop (~60): T 8 2 hh

Checks around.

Turn (~60): Jd

V1 bets 20, V2 calls, folds, Hero calls

River (~120): Ac

V1 checks, V2 checks, Hero bets 60

The reason I bet was to fold out V1's Jx hands that beat me such as KJ,QJ. I

Thoughts?

I don't generally like people who say this, but fold pre. J9 off, even in position is a losing play.

Bet flop here. Half pot is fine, but the original raiser is in early position so you have a decent shot of taking it down and there are a lot of good turns you can bluff/hit.

As played on the river I don't think you're getting him to fold KJ or QJ in this spot without history, so is probably knuckle and hope I'm good. It's pretty tough for you to have an ace in your range so I'm not totally sure what you're trying to rep that would get him off a jack.

I say fold this preflop....J9o just doesn't play very well in a raised multiway pot. As played, with description of players, I'm raising the flop. As played though, just check down the river. There are too many combos that beat you and any hand that you don't currently beat with a pair of J is calling you down. Don't really see what hand you are trying to rep???

The turn bet was conspicuously low (1/3 pot). I don't mind the river, but think the bet was too small at 1/2 pot. 2/3 pot may have done it, but you should hate that ace. I think a raise on the turn would have been the better play. I think you have more fold equity on the turn for the same $60 (3x raise) than on the river.

4 players to a flop, in a raised (albeit small) pot. I expect at least one ace there. Only one hand folded on the turn, and I'm guessing V1 led out for $20 with a heart draw or something that paired on the flop. The jack was a bad card for him to bet. V2, who raised pre-flop, is the most likely to have an ace as played. He's either calling with a good pair (J or T) or two overs. I doubt v2 is on a small/mid pocket pair. I just think someone's hit that ace, probably even naked, on the river.

ETA: There's also the poor schmuck who Forest Gumped his way into an OESD on the turn and the ace gives him broadway. In short, I think you waited one street too late. Raise the turn and you probably take it down. Slow playing a rivered nut in a 3 way pot is bad for v1 since he took initiative on the turn, and worse for v2 as there's only one person left to bet his hand for him. Therefore, rivering broadway is low probability, but still possible.
