Fun hand a few min ago:

Hero (BTN, 400$): 22 yrs old, solid TAG image, well known winner in this casino

SB (300$): Tight old guy, playing VERY Passive, just calling aces pre, c/c TP and two-pairs all the way down, playing mostly fit-or-fold

BB (200$): ~30 yrs old friend of a reg, thought of him as solid

Game is 4 handed due to a smoking break of a 3-man group of friends sitting at the table together.

Hero has 85s.
Preflop: Hero raise 8, sb call 8, bb call 8.

(inb4: fold pre; I was clearly the best post-flop player, and wanted to get HU with the old guy calling to much PF and playing fit/fold postflop, so I think I can raise any playable cards there. Rake is pritty good in this casino.)

Flop: 347sss
Action: Sb leads 20, BB raises to 55, Hero ??

I have never seen the old guy leading before, and I think the other reg noticed this also. Because of that, I think the Reg would never Raise the blank As or As7d. So he may only raises sets for protection, the straight, and flushes which are always higher than mine.

I am not really sure about the leading-range of the grandpa.
He lead almost never before.

This would be the (for me) best-case reg-raising range otf:
ProPokerTools Hold'em Simulation
48,510 trials (Exhaustive)
board: 347
Hand Pot equity Wins Ties
8s5s40.69% 19,7400
33,44,77, ss, 5659.31% 28,7700

Question here is obv what to do.
Do you fold this directly otf?
Do you call and reevaluate turn?
I think shipping is the worse option.

What do you do in your local games in spots like this ?
Which flush do you need to happily GII otf?

Easy fold vs these players.

Is your 30 year old friend aware of old guys unusual passive play?

Given your friends range posted above you should call and evaluate turn.

I'd probably assume your friend is raising wider than what you posted. Since I've never seen the old guy raise before I'm not going to automatically put him on the nuts. If you are confident on the read that he is only raising the nuts then I guess you could fold. However, knowing myself I'd probably just say *** it and continue with the hand hoping he's doing something weird. I mean you are holding a flush after all.

Is the old guy really that passive is the real question. Your friend shouldn't really worry you as much unless you are sure he knows old guy is super passive.

...You know what I change my mind. Just fold. If you're feeling yucky with a flush then there is probably a good reason. That str8 flush looks tempting to draw to though.

Call/reevaluate. If sb shoves it's a fold. If they check the turn to you try to get stacks in on non-spade run outs/non paired boards.

1. 8 PF is not an isolation bet. Anyone limping is calling. Go like 12.

2. When a passive player becomes aggressive we should strongly consider folding.

3. OMC leads, BBreg raises. This is more evidence for a fold.

I don't believe our baby flush is good here.
