Hero has somewhat of a calling station image, caught a run of good hands that hit.
Villain seems competent, maybe even a reg.

Hero: $300 (Button)
Villain: $200 (UTG)

Four people limp to Hero with AK.
Hero makes it $15.
Everyone folds to Villain who calls.

Flop ($41): 9JK

Villain: Checks
Hero: Bets $30

Villain: Raises to $60
Hero: Calls

Turn ($181): 8

Villain: Bets $80
Hero: ?

Welcome to the forum, OP.

Check-min raise on that board makes zero sense. He's repping F all. Any made hand would c/r bigger to on a board this wet to charge draws, and any draws would c/r bigger to generate fold equity. Literally the only hands that he could be doing this for value with are QcTc and AcKc. He could be spazzing with AcKx/Jx/9x, or playing a standard draw poorly. If he's any good and thinks you're stationy, he should never have air here.

While I like the idea of letting him do the betting for us, too many cards kill our action or our hand. I 3-bet flop.

AP, we have over 1/3 of effective stacks in OTT, so never folding to a card that completes almost no draws. Again, he might give up NFDs that don't have a pair to go with them on a blank river, so might as well GII now.

Check-minraise at low stakes is almost always a nutted hand. Can he be doing this with KQ? AQcc? If he's competent then he's not limping those UTG all that often.

Don't think he's all that competent with a check-minraise tbh.

Agree with Garick. This is either a three-bet/call on the flop or a raise turn.

If villain had made it $100 on the flop, I would've considered a fold. Probably still GII with TPTK and a $200 stack on this wet of a board, though.

It's a mistake to just call here, btw. You only have $50 more, so he's never folding a value hand or a draw now. If you call, he can check/fold his busted draws on the river, while you're going to have to call the river no matter what hits (you'll be getting almost 8-to-1).

I like this, wish I would have done it.

For what it's worth:

Board: 9JK8

Villain: Bets $80
Hero: Shoves
Villain: Calls w/ QT

I think 3! shoving on flop is the correct play, it just seems like there should be a better line where I can get away from TPTK against the nuts. I'm probably just being results oriented.

Meh, for all that that's a pretty large pot to be playing with TPTK and just one raise PF, with a board that wet and a V line that has only two viable combos to worry about (one that beats you and one that is chopping plus a free-role), I don't see how you get away.

Cooler, imo.

You have one pair against a check/minraise on a wet board from a preflop limp/caller. This isn't quantum physics. Spot is trivial, thread is lol.
