$1/$2 home game 7 handed $5 straddle on the button

Villain is a tight passive fish limping most of the time had a couple drinks, he has about $350-375 I cover him.

Sb calls, villain calls utg, hero goes $23 with 98hh utg+1, hijack calls and villain is the only other caller.

($81) flop 975ssc

I bet 45$, first question is this a good spot to bet, and sizing? hijack is quite aggressive and has position on me maybe better as a check call? However he folds and the villain calls.

($171) turn 9d

villain donks $40 I just call, I really felt I should have raised here with all the draws out there however I had seen him do this earlier when he check called a flop and lead the turn when he improved and I felt scared of him having a better 9, also having an 8 I could improve on river with my gutshot. Second question do you raise here and to how much? After him betting $40 he has about 250ish behind do we just rip it here? I was thinking raising to $120-150 but if he moves it in would feel like were always behind.

($251) river 3s villain bets $150 I tank fold, third question do you call or fold? Don't think he would do this with a 9 when the flush comes in, either way were losing to many 9's, he could have a boat or I guess a flush don't think i'm beating anything. He says he had a flush after I fold.

Pre and flop fine imo, definitely raising the turn though!! It's an absolute raise, just rip it, if he has a bigger 9 he has a bigger 9, you hit your top pair, turned trips and have a gut shot. You still have equity with any 7, 8 and 5 and most of the time you're already way ahead.

Understand that he made a similar move before but there's no way I'm not shoving here.

I don't care too much for the river as I wouldn't ever put myself in this spot.

Pre is not even close to good. Especially with that small ****ty sizing.

Pre-flop is way too small. Make it at least $30. I don't care that you got only two callers. I'd bet a little more on the flop. As played, raise/shove turn. He is setting his price to hit his flush and you let him. It is so unlikely he has a 9.

With a blocking bet, play as if there had been no bet, and just raise.
