6 handed $1/$1 private game.

Villain in this hand is a pretty solid but somewhat weak-tight player. However he seems to have a big soft spot for flush draws and he's shown big semi-bluffs with flush draws and also will stack off up to 100BB on the flop with the nut flush draw + overs.
Effective stacks $75.

Hero is UTG with JJ, raise to $5
Folds to villain on the button who calls, blinds fold.

Flop ($12): T52

Hero leads out for $10, villain raises to $30. Hero??

How do you think I am doing against his range here? If it all goes in on the flop I'm 50-50 against 2 overs with a higher flush draw. Also 50-50 against top pair with a higher flush draw. Also 50-50 against 2 pair. I have 85% equity against top pair with a lower flush draw and about 32% against a low made flush. 34% vs. a set. Obviously totally crushed against a high made flush.

With that in mind, what action do you take here?

He has $40 left, its going in on the turn. You need 40%. Embrace the variance and get it in now.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah stacks are not deep so I don't think there's much of an option although I guess it's possible to fold at this point.

One question that I hope someone can answer: when we're shoving for value, do we need to have 50% equity or more when called? I've never really read anything that explores the math of shoving, normally you just shove when you think you're "ahead" and can get called.

Again it's not a super tough spot with shallow stacks but I was actually surprised when running it through an equity calculator how little of his range I am actually "ahead" of here, basically flipping with most of the draws he would get it in with and a pretty big dog to most made hands.

Nah, it just depends on how much money is in the pot. If you assume he always calls your ship, you have to put in $60 more to win a total of $152, so you need about 39.5% equity (60/152) or more to be profitable.

Cool thanks Zeebo.

I shoved and he snapped it off with A4

I think I had the 40% though.
