Hi guys, just played a session and came across this hand, which I thought was ugly and I was pretty lost ...

Hero is sitting on $475, villain covers (around $800). villain is an old asian male, I've seen him bet rivers before (I called him on a 43442 board with 88 after checking to him, he bet $65 into a $80 pot on river, he didn't show). I would say he is loose aggressive, he sees me as tight. I've seen him bluff with air on the river before, but he isn't too out of line. Hero is UTG+1, villain is on hero's left. 9 handed

Preflop: Hero has KQ
UTG raises to $9, around 7 players call (incl blinds, hero and villain)

Flop ($63): Q34
checks all round

Turn ($63): 5
Hero bets $50, villain calls.

River ($163): 6

Hero?

At this point, I would either c/c or c/f. It all depends on how I read him.

How come you didn't bet the flop?

is betting flop the right play considering i'd be oop for the rest of the hand against any callers in a big pot and betting into 6 others?

I thought I'd see a turn, or c/r any bettors.

That's a large turn bet... No bare draws should have called it, but generally speaking asian players hate to lay down draws. Not the scariest card, as it only completes gutshots or SD's that were just a bare duece. I would probably check here, giving him the chance to bluff at it, and call most bets.

Check/call a bet of up to 100 into 160. Folding is also fine if you really think you're beat.

He'll have a lot of baby 2-pair hands and Qx but a lot of those should be checking behind on the river. He also has flush draws and 6x hands that missed.

Yes, there's 5 to a straight on the board but that also gives him more reason to bluff. Assuming he bets 100, we only have to be good 2 times out of 7 to make calling profitable.

I think c/c turn might have been ok also.

I'll continue with the action in the hand

River: Hero checks, Villain bets $125. Thoughts ?

foldy woldy

Villain should know that hero could bet the turn and check the river with 7x hands but he's doing this anyway.

I don't like check/call on the turn. The nuts on the turn is still probably going to be the nuts on the river. So villain should know that any hand that only check/calls the turn, realistically can't check-call a large river bet. Also, we miss an opportunity to build a pot for our flush.
