I haven't played with the villain before, but he seems like a competent TAG, quite aggressive post-flop. The effective stack is ~£750. Villain got me covered, SB is a short stack fish with £55.

8 players on the table.

I get dealt 44 on HJ and I open to 6, villain 3bets to 25 from button, SB short calls (leaving£30 behind), I call.

Flop: K84 (£76)

So I flop low set and check behind SB. B bets £40, SB calls his all in of £30 and I decide to call. Since the board is pretty dry, except flush draw and villain is pretty aggressive post, I decided to play it slow.

Turn: 6 (£186)

I check, villain bets £80, I call.

River: A (£346)

I check, villain bets £150. I ???

At this point I think that villain has AA, KK, AK and maybe some AT+ in his range, so the question is whether I value raise this river. What can I get value from? The way I played, I think that my set is disguised and I should get value from AK, but that should be only hand we can get value from. Since he has 3 combos of AA and 3 combos of KK and 9 combos of AK. It might be too thin of a value raise, what are your thoughts?

If your going for value this hand you should be betting all three streets imo. Seems like the only value you'l be getting in this hand is from whatever Villain puts into the pot. As played I probably just call. However I think a shove is fine here too. I think you'd see a-lot of two pairs here.

I think there are lots of decent lines to take, including the one you did, as long as you are confident V will bet like he did. As played, I'm raising the river most likely all in. If it's set over set so be it.

Another option, if you have been active enough, raise the flop (again if you'd ever check raise a flush draw), check the turn like you missed to induce... raise if bet in to, or have to bomb pot or overbet on river if checked, still looks like a bluff.

Raise flop and then just continue the betting - I think I like this line the best.

AP but instead raising the turn and betting the river.
