Would we all be billionaire if.... Would we all be billionaire if....

Would we all be billionaire if in the past we stand up every time we up 50 big blind in a session?

This through is obviously theorically wrong but the idea keeps bugging me...

No, but I would be if I had stood up everytime I was down 50bb.

At my 1/3 NL game, that means I'd have to play 6,666,666 sessions to make $1B. I've played 609 sessions in the last 10 years, which means it would take me about 110,000 years, or about 1,341 average lifetimes. Course I'm assuming the rake will have gone up a bit over that span too, so probably longer.

In seriousness, it doesn't really affect your hourly (with the exception I'll explain below). Some sessions it'll take the guy who's winning at $x/hr 15 minutes to win 50bbs and call it a day. But other times it'll take him 36 hours to do that (assuming he plays just as well at the 36th hour as he does his first, a big assumption). But in the end he stills makes $x/hr.

The exception is whether you're much better at shortstack than deepstack (or you just plain suck bad at deepstack), in which case you are better off getting up / ratholing as soon as you become deep, and that will affect your longterm $x/hr positively.

Just barely.

Seriously, there is no strategy question here. It sounds like you either have trouble with winner's tilt or trouble with deep stacks. Could be both. If you want to ask an actual strategy question related to that, feel free.
