Its som variation when it comes to how players prefer to study/put in some work off the tables. What i have found for myself, and what have done so so much for my game overall- is this forum and all the resources that is there for free right in front of your eyes. As you probably will se from my 3 points here, participate in different kind of discussions wich in the next step forces reflectionprocesses to start up, is the single most valuable thing for me.

1)Just the best of collection in the stickies on top of this forum is a bag of pure gold, wich i heave been reading from start to finish more than 3 times. I think many posters doesent realize to the fully just how good alot of those threads really is and how much value you can drain out of it. Take a couple of interesting articles/threads at the time, and read them carefully. It will start some processes in you and getting some reflections going wich is very valuable. For even better effect its good to discuss/reflect together with somebody about som topics/hands/concepts or whatever you have been reading about. I have been lucky to have 2 very good friends from poker, and we have been sparring alot against eachother- for example after reading a specific thread.

2) Participating and being active in hand histories disccusions on this forum. Regardless if you have some sparringpartners in the pokerworld in real life, its very important to put yourself out there in the discussions going on. Dare to make mistakes and dare to put your thoughts out there:even when replying before you have been reading the other answers. Writing down your thoughtprocess forces you to think things through on a whole other level. It also trains your ability to not being able to just knowing what to do in a spesific spot- but _why_ you should be doing it and why it is indeed correct. And: try to dont feel down if your posts/arguments gets some resistance from more skilled and experiences posters- thats exactly what will make you alot better.

3)Analyzing key hands alone or with a friend who also plays poker either online or live is something alot of players does on a regular basis. Or as a part of executing number 2, for sure dont be afraid of posting key hands here on 2+2. Not only the big hands you lose, often it can be the oposite that are the most interesting to analyze and disecrete. Did i make the most EV play even though i won the hand? Did i get lucky to win the hand or did i make the right play against my opponents likely range? Was i unsecure at any point in the hand about what to do and why is that? Just some examples right off the bat that you could be diving into when analyzing a hand.

Read books to develop foundation, use HH to practice identifying variables, read more books to figure out what to do with those variables, and then just play a lot.

Learn how to play well the AK. "that's the the great balancing hand in NL"
When you have AK what you need to do is to beat others AK, any pocket pair from QQ down and any other two card combo.

This should be your home work away from the tables.

I disagree too,
Maybe one great book deals with NL, the rest are hot air. What I'm saying about playing to perfection AK is the core of the entire game. Of course in some special circumstances we have to play well other combos in position but still AK dominate our master play.

Regarding proper AK play: as i mentioned in my last poast there is alot of pure gold in the best of collection stickied on top of the forum.

One of the threads linked there is a discussion started by Solreader about 3 betting AK, wich is a very good thread i can recommend diving into.

Without foundation, anything you do is basically spinning in circles.
