him check-raising the turn was by and large just a display of fancy play syndrome. He's just trying to be all random and stuff to get the money in, it's what fishy players often do with big hands since they rarely get paid off. Although in retrospect lets assume youre the fish, a player will often bet their pairs when checked to out of habit. I mean if a bad player has AJ it doesnt matter how much action there has been, if someone checks to them they're betting it 100% of the time by the river because from their point of view you dont just check pairs. So he could have assumed you were going to fire if checked to.
