UTG +1: V1 ($400)
CO: Hero ($600): TdTc
SB: V2 ($200)

UTG+1 raises to $15, MP calls, Hero calls, SB calls. I know that I probably should have 3B here (thoughts on sizing)?

Flop ($60): 984r. SB checks, UTG+1 bets $20, MP folds, Hero and SB call.

Turn ($120): 2c. SB checks, UTG+1 bets $40, Hero and SB both call.

River ($240): 3d. SB shoves for about $125 more. UTG +1 tanks and folds

Hero??? I feel like I'm always stuck not knowing what to do with relatively large river bets on dry-ish boards with an overpair.

any thought to raising the flop given the SB is behind? HU obv is a just a call, but in this instance... obv fold to a 3 bet

Reads on Vs? Vs' likely reads on you?

Honestly didn't think too much about raising the flop, which is probably a leak. Assuming that a 4x raise gets the SB out and the original bettor calls, what's the typical line moving forward? I'm comfortable raising the flop and getting called when I have it, or when I'm on a draw, but I'm just a little lost on this kind of hand.

No real reads on Vs, but I was caught bluffing like twice before this hand so Vs probably think that I'm playing (1) too loose and (2) too aggressive.

+1.
This is the most important factor here.
An UTG+1 open is the other biggest factor.
Your read on V should make this decision for you.
Against a faceless unknown V, I would assume that you’re against JJ+ here and fold river.

Against average players in my pool, who tend to open wide/random in basically any position, I would definitely 3bet preflop. Raise flop for protection against overcards and to get value from A9,T9? Raise turn..?

as played, I would call the river shove, but I have no idea where we are at, since we don't have reads, and with this passive line SB can have any kind of junk, which made 2 pairs/str8s on the river.

Oh, sorry. I misread HH.
Without reads I would have to call the SB shove here, I thought UTG shoved.
